by Cheryl B. on I saw the signs for Fat Taco right near my office and they piqued my curiosity. I was surprised that they were actually located inside a nightclub - kind of weird! But I was in the mood for tacos, so I decided to give them a try. And I'm glad I did! The spicy pork was outstanding - not greasy at all. The spicy mango sauce they have is awesome too. And the chips! Yummy. Great service as well.
by Cara A. on It really depends on the night. Two examples: Night A: Awesome salsa, fun and mixed crowd, getting pulled in by strangers, yet zero creepy-guy factor. The food's not so hot, but that's an afterthought when you're dancing this much. Tipsy, happy, twirling Cara. Night B: DJ playing Jay-Z and Beyonce on an Afro-Brazil night. Wha? Unremarkable sangria. Many, many white girls who may or may not be celebrating their 21st birthdays. Bendy glowstick being tied around my waist = highlight of my evening. I still haven't been to Basement Bhangra. That may tip me in one direction or the other. I want it to be the favorable direction. We'll see...
by Jimmie Tyl on The DJ was spinning that What A Fool Believes by the Doobie Brothers, which is a GREAT song I might add. And I go up and ask him if he's heard of Self. And told him he should check out their cover of the song because it effing rocks. AND then came the evil glare back from the DJ... Are you not supposed to suggest a cool song to a DJ? Or was he too cool with his hipster trendy garb, or too cracked out to really know what was going on? Anyways, I do like this place. Although by no means does it compare to the Beauty Bar in NYC--where you can actually get your nails did while sipping your cocktail. Here they just have the hair blowers, but no one actually doing hair or nails. Although it's a fun place with good music, I wonder if it's too hipster trendy for it's own good. To the degree where everyone just ends up glaring at you if you left your vintage dress and chucks at home.
