by Diane B. on I've been to Cafe du Nord probably about a half dozen times over the past 15 years and the experience has gone virtually unchanged: dark, cavernous and of course, vewy fwench decor & ambiance, more-than-sufficient bar menu, good-enough drinks but/and most importantly, *great* bands (interspersed with fundraisers and interesting special interest events). And the eating area, bar & dance floor all laid out in such a way that you can basically leave absolutely ALL inhibition chez la porte and dance like a Jennifer Beale maniac (which I have proven on my last 3-4 visits here). And it's conveniently located, too: while the fact that I only live about 4 blocks away may not scale for the rest of you, it's also super easy to find parking near Market St. or Duboce Triangle on most nights. Plus, lots of fun, smaller restaurants have popped up right on Market St nearby giving you plenty of post-show food options.
by Mikel Dulin on Major dive bar with sticky floors, cheesy dancing, and drunken college students grinding on each other on weekends. Central Square would not be the same without. Bottom line: An institution in Central Sq. Cheesy dancing at its best. Don't come here expecting good food.
