This place is awesome... If youre into overpriced drinks, no room to breathe, being bombarded by pretenses, and a crowd of Hollywood wannabes. When it opened, it was a novel idea, and almost worth the hype, but as time passes, the now bankrupt club strives to remain relevant among young party goers, unsuccessfully. The owner, who clearly suffers from a Napoleon complex, walks around with an air of entitlement that annoys the crap out of me. He's been so rude to some of my friends. If youre gonna charge 7 bucks for a Red Bull, at least smile when you're robbing people. The music isn't terrible but its all generic remixes that you might here at an aerobics class at LA Fitness a week from now. And the club's main draw (to me anyway) was the cirque de soileil type performers they had a few months back! Getting to watch the aerialists and ballerinas and flame throwers was the only saving grace of many a night there. Now thanks to budget cuts, instead, get ready to watch some cliche offbeat wiggling. Eh, to each his own, but if for some reason I really HAVE to go clubbing, my money is on Drais or Teddy's.

I really have nothing bad to say about this restaurant except that it's pretty dang dark and I almost fell down the stairs going from the second level to the first. Other than that, the food is wonderful. My husband and I came here with a gift card from my coworkers (they know we love food, haha). We gorged on a bunch of appetizers: - lobster mac & cheese (our weakness) - cheesesteak eggrolls with sriracha ketchup - ahi tuna tartare - orange-chile glazed calamari Of the four, my favorites were the lobster mac and the ahi tuna. To boot, we were seated at the swings on the 2nd level! Great place to hang out with friends...I wonder if they have a happy hour?

Cielo is my favorite and I feel the best club in NYC. That lovely sound you all referred to is powered by a custom built Funktion 1 soundsystem. APT also has a small Funktion 1 downstairs. In Cielo, it certainly provides a nice clear, crisp and balanced sound on the floor, and it's designed so well that you can converse on the outer tiers of the floor, which is nice, gives the place both a great dancefloor with top notch sound and a friendly vibe because you can actually talk to people. People have said it's intimate, which is true compared to say Pacha or Crobar, but it still holds 650 people legally. So it's not tiny. It's just that perfect medium sized room that there are far too few of in NYC. And the staff are generally courteous and respectful, which is another plus. Mondays you have Francois K's Deep Space, an amazing exploration of genres ranging from hip hop, electro dub, techno, house, jazz, rock and beyond. You know you are in the right place when you hear Jimi Hendrix after Strings of Life. He brings in great guests too, from Dzhian & Kamen, Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, DJ Harvey, etc. And the deep space crowd are all love! Great, friendly, open group of people, reminiscent of the body & soul vibe. This is one of the best parties in the world. Wednesdays is Roots with Louie Vega and Kevin Hedge. The old school NYC deep house heads make their at Cielo on Wednesdays. I don't go to this party but I understand it rocks. Robbi, one of the hardest working promoters in town, handles this one. Thursdays are the best night musically speaking, for my tastes, at Cielo. Robots do a minimal techno thing once each month with guests like Damian Lazarus, Superpitcher, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Dandy Jack, etc. Giant Step does the odd Thursday too, featuring artists like Ben Watt of Everything but the Girl Fame. (this is shameless, but I'm doing a party there on thurs 2/8 w/ Switch from London). Fridays and Saturdays are VERY busy there. Cielo's resident DJs Willie Graff & Nicolas Matar play all things deep, techy, sexy and otherwise, though the weekend crowd tends to be weekend meatpacking overflow, and not clued up music folks, which is why I like Mondays & Thursdays. They did feature Charles Webster Fridays this past summer, which was excellent. One Saturday per month they host Tedd Patterson's Vibal night, which is quality, definitely a must do! There you have it! http://www.cieloclub.com
