The boss and I checked out Nick's Crispy Tacos on Thursday for a quick dinner before the Chieftains game at Yerba Buena. Thanks to rateclubs Deals, we had a prepaid coupon (God, I feel like I'm turning into my Mom) for $20 worth of food for $10. Lemme preface by saying that while I still had my Nick's cherry, the wife HATES Nick's. Unfortunately, our neighborhood is pretty devoid of cheap, decent Mexican food (come back, La Salsa!) and we didn't have enough time to shoot down to the Mission. Still, we figured with the deal, we'd be covered for food and 2 beers. What the woman didn't mention is that Nick's is retardedly expensive. We ordered 2 pescado burritos Nick's style and 2 beers. I happily handed my coupon to the gentleman behind the counter (like the cheap bastard that I am) waited for my rations like a good little boy. So you could imagine my surprise when he said "that'll be $9.75"! I tried explaining that I signed up for the $20 for $10 deal, but apparently with Nick's ass-inine pricing $20 doesn't even cover the 2 burritos. To make matters worse, they only take cash, so I had to run across the street to Walgreens and buy a homeless guy a banana (seriously) to avoid $6 in ATM fees. No wonder the place was freaking empty, and 2 patrons actually walked out without their takeout orders! Well, my cash was already wasted and I was starving, so I sat down and waited for my food. So out comes the 2 burritos, sans chips. How can one eat a burrito without having fresh chips to scoop up the slop that falls out? So I mention to our server that he forgot the chips, and he says "oh no, they're extra"! Are you f*cking kidding me? $30 for 2 burritos and 2 beers and I have to pay extra for chips?!? Nick's might be the most expensive taqueria in the City, even more so than Papalote, home of a $20 burrito. To make matters worse, the fish in the burrito was so over-fried that it was barely edible. Find a new line of work, Nick. 'Cause your burritos suck d*ck!

A very hip venue which seems to transform a lot depending on the night. It's like New York art crowd meets Euro hipsters at times (I can appreciate the spectrum.) It's more left of center and edgy than your other art spots in San Francisco. Been here quite a bit for the gallery, electro/dance/promoted events, and the atmosphere on more quiet "dead" nights. The drink prices are reasonable, but the wait at the bar during a huge event is a tad preposterous... Definitely will NOT wait longingly (or aggressively) for a glass of white again... 30 minutes to get it? And then 10 more minutes to close out? I'll make note to send my minions instead. ;) It's a fun place to take the New York faction though, so they can wax nostalgic.

Excellent place to have quick and cheap food during random times of the day or night. I ordered a Chicken Gyro. It came with really good steak fries. The chicken in the gyro was perfect, juicy, and tender.
