EAT AT ZAYA! Decided to rateclubs when I walked in the door so I didn't forget! This was the first time I've experienced bad Greek food. I really thought it was full proof and safe. I have never been more wrong. With the exception of the grilled calamari, the food was bland and unremarkable. The saganoki (flaming cheese) was breaded...this confused me. The cheese itself was not tasty or of good quality. I don't know, I just know we always get flaming cheese and for the first time EVER, took a bite each and couldnt force it down. We ordered the Zorba platter and the food was edible. The eggplant and grape leaves were decent but the rest... My boyfriend ordered the mahi dinner and it was flavorless...the plate was pretty, though. The grilled octopus was chopped haphazardly and therefore had a ton of different textures. Some parts were well cooked and well seasoned, other parts were flavorless masses. All in all, for what we got, it was a little pricey as well. We were there for a birthday and they sang and gave us rice pudding. It was tasty and the song was entertaining. I don't think we will be back. For the same price range you can eat at Zaya on N. Highland and the food is actually really good.

I'd give 3.5 stars if I could.... I've been here twice, years ago and then again this week for happy hour. All I remember about the first time was that my burger was excellent. This last time we were there around 6, and there were maybe 10 people inside (got busier as it got a little later, but not bursting with people). I liked it because it was quiet for a bar, and it wasn't pretentious or anything. We ordered nachos; they appeared to have enchilada sauce on them and tasted good. We also ordered wings, but the kitchen forgot about them so we had to wait awhile. They were passable. Good selection of beers on tap. Good place to go after work for a relaxing drink.

I wonder why Tao is so jam-packed. Granted, the setting is impressive. But given the mediocre food and distinctly boring business and tourist crowd, I can venture to guess it is one or more of three possibilities. The patrons: 1) Are not hip enough to go elsewhere 2) Are all employees of Tao, on rotation 3) Have lost their "tao" and ended up at Tao. Avoid Tao in much the same way that Gates would shy away from breaking bread with Jobs.
