What's up you Electrohead Mofos!  haha Alright, a bit of history as it compares with where Das Bunker is today:  They started in dive bars: Que Cera in Long Beach, Hully Gully in Downey.  But I think Franck and his team of "miscreant" DJs have finally found a place worthy for today's fans of modern industrial music. It's currently being run in Jewel's Catch One on Pico, which is a decent area with respectful residents nearby who don't try and vandalize your car if you park on a nearby street or something.  The parking is limited but they do offer it if you come early enough on Friday nights.  The cover has been $5 before 10:30 PM, $10 after, although the line barely inches forward at 10:15 at times.  I don't know who to blame for the entry line because you need security to do the preliminary search and seizure, but there is a time limit. You climb a healthy amount of stairs to get up to the main meet-and-greet, bar, restrooms, and dance area.  The top floor mostly spins newer, electro-industrial (more melodic, rave-oriented darkwave, futurepop...that sort of thing) where you'll find people decked out in neon-extensions and leather surgical masks in a strange goth-rave aesthetic you don't see in most places.  The main floor is pretty impressive, featuring an old-style checkerboard layout on the dancefloor, with an awesome array of lighting and...ahem...stripper poles for anyone to dance on.  Most of the time, when there is a band playing that night, they'll play on the main dancefloor's stage. Go through a doorway that leads downstairs, and you're invited to what the Das Bunker experience exclusively has to offer in the way of clubbing: a dark style of industrial that made its way through by the hands of German labels such as Ant-Zen and Hands that has kept rhythmic noise in clubs since Das Bunker's inception.  It remains the reason I come to the club as often as possible because you never got to hear this brand of noise-techno in most industrial clubs, let alone goth clubs in LA or anywhere.  This is purely thanks to Franck (H-Bomb) and his team of DJs (ie. The Operative & DJ Rekahoe) who followed these sounds from the underground. Going towards the back of the club (or the side?) is a Retro room, spinning older, more-familiar tracks from most of goth clubs' setlists which could include anything from KMFDM, NIne Inch Nails, or more obscure artists. There is ample room to sit anywhere you want, a smoking lounge outside on the bottom floor (down a hallway from the noise music playing) with a new gazebo-style cover to it, & 3 computers which offer internet access (!...at a nightclub? OK!). The bartenders are totally reasonable the more courteous you are with them: I've had occasions where I didn't feel the drink was strong enough and they helped me out numerous times. IN CONCLUSION, this is an amazing nightclub that will take you away from the pretentiousness of LA nightclubs for a second and drop you into a vat of gooey, industrial-music-loving goodness that fits a certain fan of electronic music.  Go with an open mind, and you'll leave wanting to come back next week.  And keep in mind that this club draws major industrial acts from around the globe to come to this club, so you must be going to somewhere special when you can say I partied with a French baker who popped by noise-cherry and invites me back with a hearty hug and a great time.  Thanks Franck!

For a little hole in the wall this place is spendy so get ready to blow some cash for a rad night out. My girls and my lover all went to this exceptionally far out and groovy place to see a burlesque show for my birthday. My drinks were expensive ..18 dollars for a double shot of vodka on the  rocks.. I'm hardcore son !!! The admission was 20 for the show .. but it was quality entrainment boobie tassels and pasties are just divine. The radical feminist go go dancers rock my face hard. This place reaks of history ..no I'm not talking about the stale beer and crusted vomit odor from 1997 that reeks from every bar and lounge ..I'm talking about how my party girl hairdresser (maybe my mom's age) partied at this club back in the 80s ... so I love historic places that only cool old peeps know about it makes it a unintentionally kitsch ... I love kitsch

Swanky, retro, classy and beautifully appointed room with lots of bars (that are cash only, grrrr) and a great sound system. My only complaint is that the stages, while elevated, are not sufficiently high to make them visible from the back of the (GA, standing) crowd. This issue is magnified because there is a VIP seating area right in front of the stage, which pushes the front of the GA area back a good 40 feet from the stage. Thankfully, I had a good place up front from which to watch Richard Cheese, but should I have been stuck at the back I think I would have been very unhappy with the room. Lesson learned: If you're going to be standing, and particularly if you're short, be sure to get there early to procure a good spot.
