I live right on the other side of the hill from Nick's, but it's taken me a year to actually go in thanks to a rateclubs deal offered a little while ago. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty excited to try it because my friends all rave about it. The fish tacos were good! mmm especially Nick's way with guacamole on top. I'm from LA, so good tacos are a must, and the crispy fish tacos are pretty good (the nachos too). BUT, although the food was really good, I'm not sure if I would be willing to spend that much on tacos again. Ok, well, on the tacos, yes, but on the type of establishment, no. It's cool if tacos are a buck and you're standing at a taco truck, but to wait in a line for 20 minutes, then have to fight for a table AND pay such high prices...maybe not. Also, I was a little upset that the guy who took my order didn't tell me that I could purchase cocktails at the register, and ended up wasting money buying drinks at the separate bar (though, not too much was wasted, so I can't say I'm too upset). It would have been nice to know... Though, overall, it was a good first experience!

unique experience drinking on a boat, must try experience for any new yorker. As i looked over the water i wondered how they haven't been sued yet. Drunk people, water and ledges do not mix... somehow they do it. Reasonably priced drinks but a pain to get to. don't worry there are plenty of cabs when you want to leave. and a limo or 2 waiting for the larger groups. Close 1 pm weekends so don't arrive too late. Remember drunkeness does not enhance you swimming ability it decreases it.

Done everything from gone to hip hop shows to thrown concerts to attended fashion shows to partied at raves at this location over the last 10 years. Formerly Club Grand (or The Grand or whatever it was called) It's new name and management are aggressively working to revamp its image and are doing very well. Nice VIP area is truly private, can hold a fairly large group, and overlooks the whole rest of the club from above the main bar. Extremely large and versatile outdoor smoking area is marred only by the Macchu Picchu style trial-by-staircase you have to survive to get to it. I cannot believe, drunk as I've been at this place before, that I've never fallen down these things. Beware parking lots around the building. Back in the day, cats used to set up shop for a quick hustle taking people's money to park in an unauthorized lot and then disappearing, leaving you to get a ticket (esp. if you're at party that goes till 11am the next day). Haven't seen this in a long, long time but with the multiple open lots nearby and resurgence of this club, it could happen again. Poised to become the premier LA nightlife venue for live hip hop, R&B and Soul entertainment.
