I've only been here for the opening day of this year's season of Second Sundays (21+) and eventhough there were a couple of issues... I had a flipping awesome time! We were nice and drunk by the time we got in the super long VIP line around 2pm. We knew a promoter, so we got in for a discounted price (still $15) but it was still more than I would like to spend to get into a club (nothing would be nice) and we still had to wait in line! With a hook up! Lame start. But once we got inside we knew why it was so overcrowded. Because it's freaking amaazing! The club faces the bay, and the whole place is half inside, half outside... so no one feels like a bunch of sardines smashed into one tiny little nightclub. Well, I still kinda felt that way, but at least we were in the open air, so I didn't have to deal with any horrible smells coming off of the very drunk idiots dancing around me. But they had food! Like, yummy fried bar food that was nothing special but definitley a good idea for all those day drinkers. The bathrooms were super tiny and yes, I'm sorry to report that they were pretty nasty. A fight went down and the bouncers came out of nowhere and rushed the dudes out with a quickness. All in all an exciting Sunday afternoon!

Halo holds a record for having hosted more of my birthdays than any other establishment. I've been coming here for years, and somehow this place always seems to be evolving to stay cooler than me. I am going to get too old to be there before I ever catch up with this place in hipness factor. Was just there last night for a rateclubs Elite event, and it was nice to see such a down to earth crowd there. Some nights it's club kids, others it's the sexy and swanky, but most of the time it's a decent blend of people. Always good looking, rarely douchey. Take your douchiness to Opera, thankyouverymuch. The place is hot, has a sexy vibe, and is always well maintained. The staff are very chill, and not once in all my years have I had to flag a bartender for 15 minutes or stand there and be ignored. They pour mean drinks, and while it's pretty easy to run up a big tab, never had to deal with anything watered down or sloppily made. I think the great service is one of the big draws that makes me like this place more than typical clubs. That, and ample places to park my ass when I want. Always love the music there, and they bring in some decent talent. Typical names you'll see there are Kemit, Chris Grass, Dr. Katz, and the Turntables on the Hudson djs. Very danceable stuff, which leads me to my one gripe with Halo... there is no real dance floor. It's a lounge, not a club - I get it. But when you play such fabulous music, you've gotta wanna dance.

MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT HIGHLANDS: Parking is only $2 with validation from the coat check girl! But ugh, we have to stop going to Highlands! I'm not going to lie though, every time I come here I do have fun. And I like that they have 2 different rooms... and I'm pretty sure they have an outdoor upstairs balcony too, but I can't quite be sure because of my somewhat fuzzy memory... that's what bottle service does. Every time my friend goes out, he insists on bottle service so he doesn't have to wait in line. Smart. But not smart for the chronically late people (read: me) who then have to wait in line for one of the two only people who can check in those with a bottle service party. We waited outside for 20 minutes anyway, even though we were paying $300 per bottle. Which is really like $20 per person if you do it right. We also didn't realize that once you walk outside of the club, you've just left. There's no foyer/landing dock for smokers, etc. in the front of the club. So that was kind of a bummer. And honestly, aren't there any other people who go to clubs who aren't Asian underage, drunk girls?
