by Angie Ramelli on Opera is my usual Friday club if I'm in L.A. I love the atmosphere, the music, and the people. On Fridays, it's asian night. I normally base clubs on two things: music and dance floor. The music is great! It is the typical booty shaking dance music that makes the whole clubbing experience fun! The dance floor .. anywhere really. There are several dance floors - 3 to be exact, but if you want to dance near the bars and etc then you can. No one really stops you from dancing and having fun. The dance floors are fairly large. There is definitely enough arm and leg room and you're not always getting hit or squashed. Bars: there are plenty of bars, which means you could get your drinks quick instead of standing and waiting forever to buy your drinks. There are about 3 very large bars that are pretty spread apart. The price of the drinks are slightly above average, but they are mixed well and good! They definitely don't rip you off on the alcohol and the portion of the drink. There are many many tables and booths for people to sit. It's a pretty large venue. There are good looking guys and girls. Many people who know how to dance. I mainly go to this place because of the promotion company that throws their parties here on Fridays. My friends are good friends w/ them, so we get treated nice there. I really like the promotion company and usually go where they go because they throw really good parties. They let my friends and I in at 12:30-1am . The only CON is that right when you walk in, everybody stands around in the entrance. So it's very crowded. Seriously, why do people stand in front of the entrance? But, this is my only dislike. Overall, I really like this club. You can get on guestlist, if not then the cover charge is $20.
by paul t. on Highland club in a very nice shopping center in downtown hollywood. Been here a few times, always fun and interesting people to lounge around. The music could be better! They had a real nice outdoor patio where u can view the streets of Hollywood. Stop by , check it out for yourself & say whats up to Brad! (manager cordinator for highland club)
by Estell Fette on Listen, I don't, in general, have a problem with overpriced cheesy lesbian dance clubs. In fact, I think they're pretty great. I love partying with my gays in an irresponsible and carefree fashion. But I can tell you one thing: I'll never EVER do it again at Pearl. Fuck this place. Seriously. Let's review: 1. Where did they recruit their door staff, the 7th circle of Hell? I understand that door staff are, by nature, pretty gruff and no-nonsense because they deal with drunk morons all night, but the entire door staff at Pearl are all horrifically antagonistic. (Honestly, how scary can a bunch of drunk lezzies be, REALLY?) Refusing IDs for no good reason, refusing entrance to whomever they like, and playing god when it comes to who gets in and who doesn't is standard practice. Hey, guys, newsflash, this isn't Studio 54. We just want to dance. Let us in for chrissakes. 2. The bar. OH. THE BAR. Why are you never stocked properly, bar? Why do I have to call three different cocktails before you have the ingredients to make what I'm asking for? Also, why are you SO expensive? I could get a stronger drink at a daycare center. 3. The music. Normally I wouldn't rag on a club for run-of-the-mill Top 40/Hip-hop, but you're catering to smart ladies with asses to shake - feel free to mix it up from the standard radio fare, wouldya? Don't waste your time or money at Pearl. You're much better off at a place like Middlesex in Cambridge, or even Roxy if you want to shake it with the bare-chested gay boys. F-
