by MoMo D. on Wow. Have you ever seen Polk Street completely dead? Well... As everyone and their grandmother is out at Burning Man, it is tonight! And that was totally fine with me. Rolled into Vertigo about 10pm and there's all of three people, the bartender and DJ in the joint. I spy a lovely giant glass vessel of Sangria on the bar and decide I will tempt fate two nights in a row. Last night it was less than half a pitcher at ChaX3 and I was asleep (read: passed out) by 8pm and slept for over 12 hours. Wow, was that Sangria strong?! Yes. And most delicious. And $5. The glass was a little small (I AM a size queen, aren't I???), but since I hadn't had much to eat earlier, that was probably a good thing. Despite the lack of patrons, the DJ was playing music that kept me interested. I love the fact that the dance floor area is essentially one giant mirror ball. I want to go back on a "normal" Saturday night to see how it really goes down....
by Tyrell Trac on I'm sorry to say, but Marquee has finally passed its prime. The crowd has turned super B&T... About a fifth or so of the crowd was still good... but the rest was god-aweful. I'd rather go to Cain.
