My boyfriend and I loved the sexy ambiance; the clever back-lit menus; and most of all the music! We went on a Friday night (I think it was 7.17.09) and we really dug the Groovy Sexy House that was playing. I even talked to the dj, Ace Tatsu, who was extremely friendly and down to earth. Music is such an important element in setting the mood and the scene, my man and I know this because we go to a lot of parties where the music just doesn't match the energy and crowd, which then kills the party. But, far from killing the mood, Ace really enhanced what was a fun evening for us. We also met the manager, Scott Caraoen, very attentive and super nice. The only reason I hesitate to give Infusion Lounge the full 5 stars is that the food was so-so; our waiter was pitifully absent; and when it turned into a night-club the dude giving out the wrist-bands was super rude and cocky (but, this is pretty typical of all SF night spots) Other than that, I have been encouraging friends to go and am looking forward to another jaunt to this very sexy spot.

And part two of my internal "Pat's vs Geno's Cheesesteak Battle" was at Geno's Steaks. I must say that I did not notice any signs telling me how to order a steak. The guy behind the window was very friendly and was making conversation with me. Granted, there was no one else on line so he had time to talk, which I'm assuming is rare for him (And maybe because I spoke English he liked me but that's a whole other bag). I ordered six more steak sandwiches wit' melted Cheez Whiz and onions. Yes, I said six more - come on, I'm not going down to south Philly just to get one sandwich, please! Ahhh, now this was more like it. While Pat's cheesesteak was tasty but a little hard to chew, Geno's was right on the money. Not hard to chew at all, and the hot onions and melted cheese, again, was right on the money. Eating it at my car, while looking at the South Philly Musicians Mural with Fabian, Frankie Avalon and Chubby Checker just made me feel as if I was a genuine Philly resident. All I needed to do was yell out, "yo Adrian!"

I generally love to visit this location.... but last night this was not the case. They do not take reservations but they do allow call ahead seating, so when we left our house we called ahead. They asked if we were within 30 minutes of their location and we said yes. Upon arrival, we were told that they were trying to seat a party of 50 (on a saturday night) and it would be 30 to 45 minutes more! About 30 minutes later, they "pulled some strings" and sat us on the rooftop deck. It was freezing cold up there and the waiter was over it. Most of the time he was unavailable when we needed stuff. It took about 20 minutes to get our Bloody Mary's. We had Shrimp n' Grits, Parmesan oysters, and Baked Grouper, all of which was very good, as usual, but last night the service was well below average
