A jazz supper club in the Mission? I'll have to admit that I was skeptical when I was given numerous invitations to Coda. When I imagine a jazz supper club in this town, I imagine a place that's accessible to the "current" jazz audience (most of whom are greying and white). I imagine a  place not too far from their gentrified neighborhoods where they can "slum" it (eg. Yoshi's in the Fillmore). When I tried to fathom where Coda could be located, it initially made little sense. The indie rock loving, plaid-clad hipsters on the Inner Mission would never embrace a jazz supper club. But, much to my chagrin, Coda is off the beaten path with it's location at Mission and Duboce making it as much an Inner Mission locale as a Hayes Valley spot (is my geography off? Suck it) Anyhow, the food is stellar...STELLAR. The pork tenderloin is better than summer time and puppies combined (and that's not a mendacious claim). Stick around after your meal and you're generally treated to some funk-jazz music which is typically the house band the Jazz Mafia. Coda is ideal for a great night out with friends and it's an awesome date spot. Check it out and tell the bouncer, Ken, he owes me twenty bucks.

No live drums? smell of weed? Rastas? I must be mistakened because the 330 Ritch that I knew was representative of what I just mentioned but then again that was 12 years ago... 330 Ritch changed...and I think it changed for the better (although, I've had my hilarious memories here back in the college days) The space is much bigger compared to 15 years ago because they broke down a couple of the walls and the DJ still performs on the platform stage You get a bit of the trendy, soulful and fun vibe once you hear the 80s rock, old school, new school hip hop mashed up. It stirs up the masses to get up and dance Unfortunately, I found the bartenders to be inattentive and slow. It seemed like they were picking which customers they wanted to make the drink for. I stood next to an available bartender for a good 10-15 mins while he was chatting it up with friends from the crowd...wrong! (maybe if I had on a pair of bowling bowls while wearing a kids' size tshirt I would've gotten my whisky sour in a timely manner $10 entrance fee at 330 Ritch is a good price compared to overrated clubs where you spend $20-$25 to get in. However, when you're balling out of control carrying those benjies and fitties....don't expect to get change back...our doorperson spent about 20 mins. trying to get change for her till as we stood there

Great place to relax on off nights downtown and enjoy some pool, shuffleboard, darts and even the newest video games. Drink prices are reasonable, decor is exactly what you would expect for a pool hall on Sixth Street. Location did hurt the rating though, unfortunately Buffalo Billiards is located next to the most drug infested and crime ridden bus stop in all of Austin. Not the bars fault, city can take full blame on this one, but it definitely makes the place not as safe as it could be. One HUGE thing Buffalo does have going for it is the new Barbecuties stand out front, which pretty much rocks my world. So anyway,l they have your typical bar games, they frequently have events with big fights and pay per view stuff going on, and they have all the new game systems upstairs so you can get your 360, PS3 or Wii on. Haven't eaten here and honestly until I read the last review I didn't even realize they sold food, damn I have been down here almost two years and didn't know that!! HA HA. Check this place out if you are into pool and bar games but pass it up on the weekends for one of Austins amazing nightclubs.
