I hate that it's trendy to knock Trudy's these days. Trudy's Mexican Martinis, Queso Especial and Stuffed Avocado bring me back to this place at least once a week.

Went there for lunch today and to watch football on the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant feels like an upscale sports bar without being pretentious. There are a lot of televisions but the place isn't busy. I'd feel comfortable eating there even without a ballgame on tv. We sat at the bar and had a chance to talk to the owners who were very nice. The bartenders were attentive and quick to refill our drinks. For lunch, I had the Chop House burger with the added Longhorn Cheddar and Bacon. I ordered the burger medium and it was served exactly that way. The bun was very good also. Along with the burger, we had the chips and queso. It was terrific. A very traditional take on queso, not some Rotel and Velveeta mix (which, has it's place when cooked at the house to be sure). The chips are homemade and served with some cilantro and cotija cheese sprinkled on top. 5 stars is a great rating, but the food was terrific, the atmosphere was great, and the service was friendly and responsive. We stayed for the first half of the game and had a great time. Definitely going back to watch some World Series games.

they obviously don't have air conditioning... last time i went it was blazing hot and everyone was sweating like it was a sauna. the venue is nice though and overall it was a good time.
