Hip, upscale bar hidden in an alleyway near Union Square. Was given some drink passes so checked it out (good thing b/c drink prices are a bit steep) Crowd is more on the dressy, polished side. No scrubs here. Definitely an LA vibe. Can see how some friends would love the "see and be seen" feel to this place. So it's a good place to keep in mind but personally, not really my cup of tea (especially if there's a line to get in).

love this place. all i have to say is RED. RED RED RED RED RED! the decor is beautiful. came here after work a couple times with coworkers. nice ambiance, beautiful servers, good drinks. if you dont get here early, they'll charge you like 10 bucks to get in. the drinks are ok priced, but definitely worth it. lots of fun when there is entertainment.

I first started going here when it was one of the "hot spots" in Hollywood. Back then, you got extra points to be partying anywhere that you'd have squeeze past the paparazzi just to get edged out by an entourage. LAX is a small piece with one outdoor "patio" that more closely resembles an alley with booth seating and two main rooms. The bars get slammed despite the fact that drinks average $12 to $20 (depending) and a Voss will run about $8. I've never had to wait in it, but it's amazing how long the line gets outside (especially when you get in and realize they've only let 30 people in so far). People cramp a dark and often damp sidewalk while VIP or "list" people walk to the front for easy entry (it's Hollywood, what do you expect?) The best time I had here was when we attended the GQ Men Of The Year Party for Will Ferrel, Jay-Z and Leo Dicaprio. It was invite only and sponsored by Remy Martin. Velvet ropes parted, alcohol poured from the heavens and delightful ladies in black minis served egg rolls, meatballs, seafood in a spoon, and mini cheese burgers.
