by Jordan D. on Went here last week on friday night to celebrate a friends birthday party. If your not on the reservation list and your a guy dont bother trying to get in without an equal amount of girls, or if you have less girls make sure their hot and wearing close to nothing to even be considered to even pay 20 to get in. Half of my friends party was denied entry because they came late and all the girls went in earlier so the guys were S.O.L The venue had a nice ambiance to it with the entrance having VIP tents around and a fountain and fire pit in the middle. Inside they had a huge stage and tables to lean on on the dance floor. It was like a nice club in vegas. It gives that feeling of exclusivity in hollywood when its really not like that. They serve free chocolate covered strawberries and tacos which was nice. When I feel like i didnt get my moneys worth I just ate a crazy amount of tacos and got some for my friends till I felt like it covered 20 dollars. The drinks were ok but pretty pricey. A bad thing about this club is because its so "exclusive" the security/bouncers think they can do anything and were super creepy. Specifically the white guy with the long hair and beard. Grabbing up on my friends at the entrance following them to the female bathrooms and waiting outside of them for them to come out. I mean a lot of bouncers are creepy but these guys take it to a whole new level. The night I went, the music was good and the boulevard3 dancers are amazing, but then the music randomly stopped and they had bollywood performers dance to the music on stage. I mean really? no disrespect to indian music and culture but no ones really trying to see that at a "top" club in hollywood, were just trying to drink, dance, and have a good time. I dont think ill give this club another chance when there are so many other LA/Hollywood clubs to go to that are a lot cheaper, but this is just my opinion and everyone should see for themselves. by Pam S. on I don't care what everyone else says about Webster hall as a shitty concert venue - I love it. I've seen many bands perform here, and although some of them sounded bad (The Bravery.. I love them still), some of them sounded amazing (The Editors). I won't blame a bad show on the soundsystem or the acoustics of the place. Perhaps it was because I caught mostly instrumental, post-rock/ electronic bands here (Mogwai, DJ Shadow and Ratatat) - but I firmly believe that a good band sounds good almost anywhere they play. I've also found a perfect standing spot to catch my favorite bands. It can get a little squishy (read: massive fire hazard) to get out of the place.. but when you burst out onto the street admist people handing out buttons and post cards for other shows.. the sound of the tunes lingering.. it is a truly beautiful moment. Until the bouncers yell at you to move down to the end of the block, that is.
by Yasmin Dailing on I love seeing shows in this venue - it's intimate and really brings the audience into the show. The line up of shows is always eclectic and generally exposes you to a large array of artists and musical styles.
