Although I love dancing, I'm not a fan of this place because it is a tourist trap. I had a friend in from out of town and we were staying at the FB so we decided to go. First, we had to get a hookup to walk in. Then, we had to pay to get in. Third, we had to pay $50 pp for women!!! Yes, it was a long weekend but there were no free drinks involved. I guess if you're visiting it's a cool locale to check out but the DJ changed the song before you knew which one it was. Not my cup of tea.

So I have this thing against many fancy schmancy hotels. They're so....decorated. Floral drapes and gilded ceilings with Persian rugs against patterned carpets. Ahhh! The W is awesome because it's classy and very cool in its simplicity. I don't feel like the place is better suited for great-aunt Gerda than myself. We stayed here only once a couple of years ago. Four of us rented two rooms. BUT they weren't just rooms. They were suites. And the best part was the price was very good. If you have Starwood reward points you definitely need to hit them up with this hotel. We got a good deal because of them. The hotel also holds a special place in my heart because my friends were being goofy running and jumping onto the beds, and one of them managed to stub his toe, eff it up really badly, and have to go to the hospital that night. Oh the teasing that ensued.

I would have to say that this is my new favorite place in San Francisco and I highly recommend that you check it out yourself. I have been to slide twice since it's opening. The first time I loved it, but firgured I should go back again to see if it could live up to my first impression...and surprisingly it did! The atmosphere was great and the drinks were unique, I loved the fresh juices they used. As for the people, I never seemed to notice "the bridge and tunnel" people that other reviewers complain of, I went once on a Saturday and once on a Wednesday and both times the crowds were pretty local. Oh and another complaint I saw below was that it wasn't living up to it's speakeasy theme...who cares, do you really want to go somewhere that is just like a speakeasy? There is a definite 20's vibe and I think thats enough for me. I know for sure that my girlfriends and I will definitely be going back. Slide is great when you want something a little more luxurious than the average bar...but don't want to deal with the annoying crowds of a club.
