by Dave D. on So some friends wanted to take us to a champagne brunch in the Frisco area. i was down for it. i wasn't expecting much. Lets just say the place took me by surprise, in a great way. I was expecting a simple brunch place to hang with friends. what i came to was a hip and poppin' restaurant with the greatest atmosphere! We got the unlimited champagne. it was awesome as we were given options of pomegranate or the usual orange juice with our champagne. it was nice to mix it up. and we hit the champagne hard. The food was pretty good. Now back to the atmosphere. our waiter was a rather flamboyant guy, about 5'8", wearing a full on bunny costume. i think i am imagining him on roller skates, but i guess i could be wrong. but there was def a bunny suit. haha. the other waiters were themely dressed as well. It was San Francisco, so please picture what you will as the theme. Hey, i am not a hater. Fun people are fun people. and bad people are bad people. i keep it at that. anyway, the bar area and restaurant was very lively. people came in all kinds of gear: casual, extravagantly flamboyant, and everything in between. of course, we did come right after bay to breakers, so that might have had something to do with it. but it was still amazing nonetheless. This is def going down as a fun place to eat. no doubt. if i come up to the bay area, ill stop by again...
by Cheryl D. on Turning dirty 30, you should have good family and friends around, walk on tiger print carpet, rush the stage when any birthday song comes on, and wake up the next afternoon with bruises from pole dancing and other such acts. I reserved a few tables in the pussycat lounge upstairs for my event, and Anna, my hostess was a real superstar! She gets 5 stars. She listened to my various requests, questions, and gave me options. I was delighted when I arrived - I hadn't been up there before. She even checked back with me a couple times throughout the night to make sure my party and I were having a good time. Upstairs, there is no DJ, its a lounge. But DJ Platurn was in the main dance-ish room (a little small) and I was pleased with the music. It was a Saturday. I think if it weren't my birthday I'd come on Tuesday and Wednesday and I will try the food next time. The lychee pineapple drink isn't very strong and I'm a super lightweight, but I'll probably try some of the other drinks. That was fun. Not my usual type of crowd - but who cares. By 30 one should've grown an adventurous spirit. BTW, that girl that grabbed me and tried to pull my dress up because my fabulous cleavage was too much for you to bear: if it wasn't my birthday - and no I was not drunk - your face would have more bruises than my poled-out legs.
by Guillermo Biederman on Vanguard is without a doubt the best big club in LA. There are multiple rooms, a beautiful patio outside, and a fantastic sound system. And since Giant moved their nights to Vanguard from Avalon, Vanguard now has the best (house) DJs in the world and the killer decor to accompany them. DJs such as Lee Burridge, Danny Howells and Deep Dish play the best house music around surrounded by cirque de soleil-esque decorations and dancers. The patio is huge, and it allows for a low-key (but very cool) break from the heat and the crowds of the inside rooms. The exotic buddha theme and the sofa beds (similar to SkyBar) throughout set the tone perfectly. Vanguard has a vibe for every person and mood - you just can't go wrong with a place like that.
