by Anna B. on Themed rooms are a great look. Service is cool. $6 dollar cocktails. Cheap bottle rates in comparison to other clubs/lounges. (ie. grey goose for $130) only downfall: Songs library is OKAY, could be much better. Program used to navigate through songs is not so efficient/easy to select songs. otherwise great concept. Can see myself coming back for happy hour (1/2 price room rates).
by Nique F. on This hotel is for 2 types of people: - the unabashedly snobby and superficial, OR - those who like to be surrounded by the unabashedly snobby and superficial. FUN, right? Eh, not so much. I hate to be judgmental, but I want to spare you the agony of enduring Spring Break: the Hollywood Edition if that's not your scene. Call me naive, but I thought this would be an upscale, sophisticated hotel with attentive service and nice amenities...and of course with a bit of LA snobbery sprinkled in, just for authenticity. But instead I was surrounded by professional douche-bags and their plastic hungover girlfriends. The pool is the favorite place for these lovely couples -- or usually an entourage of them -- to congregate, as I couldn't even find a chair on Saturday afternoon when I checked in. The poolside waitresses were so overwhelmed by the detoxing partiers that they didn't even acknowledge me the entire time, which was especially aggravating since most of these jokers weren't even hotel guests...just using the Roosevelt pool to lounge their hangovers away. Hey, and I'm not against drinking either. It's great, love it. But I don't want to share my pool with someone who didn't pay to be there, that's all. Ok, so maybe now I sound like the snobby one. Perhaps it's contagious... I caught it at the Roosevelt! I will say that the room was cool, except for the fact that I had to walk by the pool party ever time I went to my room. The decor is very minimalist, neutral colors, lots of dark wood, white and beige. One wall was all mirror, and another all pillowy fabric. The shower was great and the Keihls toiletries even better. I would definitely stay here again if it were in another city, attracting a different crowd. And the hotel really does have so much potential...good location for touristy sights, great freeway access to 101 (though it's more of a parking lot than a freeway), and really hip, spacious rooms. Shame that it's become a mecca for the "image is everything" crowd.
by Deandre Esmond on I probably went on an off-night and they were also redoing the kitchen at the time, but it was wholly unimpressive. However, I am told that its good nights. And, yes, it does have a drink minimum. Times visited: 1
