by Nicole L. on 80's night was really fun. I would highly recommend going with a group though because the place was a little seedy. Anytime I got too far away from my group of friends I was approached by some guy that gave me the creeps. I'm pretty sure there were at least half a dozen incarnations of Disco Stu so make sure you have a friend of your preferred sexual orientation who will pretend to be your significant other when you need an easy out from a persistent creepster. Don't get the wrong idea, it was still a really fun environment. If you love to dance and love 80's music and don't mind getting hit on by some characters then you will have a great night. Plus, I got the DJ to play "Just Like Heaven" which is one of my favorite songs.

I've been there 5 or 6 times simply because my friends throw birthday parties for reasons that are beyond my comprehension, and I have yet to have fun even once. $20-25 cover and $20 for the most watered down drinks to ever be served in a club. It's the only place where I can easily drop $100 and leave sober enough to take the GMAT. It took me 2 or 3 visits to learn the value of pregaming HARD. Guestlist? Surely, you jest. The bouncers have never heard of the word "guestlist." The crowd seems to depend on which way the stars and galaxies are aligned that night. One night, the place transforms into the set of the "My New Fuckin' Haircut" video. The next night, it's full of whiny Jewish girls from Long Island. The next, it's full of Asian high school kids. The bar is about as wide as a hallway and gets packed to the gills. The dance floor area is OK if you can even get to it, but even then the music is hit or miss (usually miss). Avoid this place like cancer.

Best part (aside from drinks) is the casual enviornment - this is NOT a pick up joint. If you want to get laid, go to the Castro. The front room is great for grabbing a drink with friends before a show or dinner during the week. The back room is great for watching the showtune queens belt out the standards in a fun, encouraging environment. The service is great -- Skip and crew will keep the drinks coming and have you in stiches!
