by Jack S. on Ate at the bar because of 20 minute Saturday night wait. Impressed by attentive bar staff, she-crab soup was good but pales in comparison to the versions you find in Charleston. Fried chicken was done just right. Can't miss upscale southern cooking in midtown.

There was a whole lotta foolios tryin to get their glow stick weildin' skinny asses up in the circle the other night when I went with a pack of my bitches. Not to mention, I've had it up to here with these 100% natural organic cotton thin ass tank top wearin' bitches talking shit under their brefeses! Take your no ass havin' self on out the door girlfriend and let a hoe have some fun! The place itself is not bad at all, but the crowd that night I could have done without. Stiff drinks, pretty quick bartender, nice little standing bar and smoking area. And that scarecrow of a doorman looked like the busted condom baby between Criss Angel and Robert Smith left out in the rain though. Pass!

Clarence Gatemouth Brown, the Toiling Midgets' wake for ricky williams, Beat Happening with the melvins, Faust, Television, Slint, and many many more scorchers. I've also enjoyed playing shows here. The backstage is downstairs and has all sorts of strange nooks that must have had some now unknown purpose back in the days when it was a burlesque hall. Classic venue. One of my all time favorite venues anywhere in the world--and it's right here in the lovely SF tenderloin.
