by Aust V. on I live right next to Trudy's Texas Star and would go every Monday for dinner and Mexican martinis with my friends. Their Queso Especial is delicious and I get it every time. I also really love the veggie tacos. The $5 Mexican martinis were perfect for a bunch of broke college kids, but they've upped the price to $7 now. Please, Trudy's, bring back our Monday night tradition!
by Jenn D. on The menu has changed a wee bit since the last time I got food here (aaaages ago) and focuses more on the BBQ. Sadly I tried the BLT and the bun was just too big for the fixings. The hush puppies were wee sad little things, but I liked them. Stick with the BBQ sandwiches if you do food. Service was stellar for our big table and we got separate checks for people who showed up at different times. That was an unexpected plus. The food came out in record time, so fast that we were done long before trivia started. Sadly the trivia just sucked. It felt like the guy running it was so proud of being clever and was just rambling to hear his voice. There are no categories and very little attention paid to the team names (that's the whole point, right? ;)) We'll be avoiding that game in the future. I like the local ok. We've taken out of towners here for a beer on the patio, and I vaguely remember going on dates here back in my single days (cue old person music). It's just not a regular place anymore.
by Maybelle Wiggs on I have to disagree with the other reviews... unfortunately I haven't been to the OG in Paris, so I'm basing my review strictly on NYC. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Buddha Bar. If you want to get in I definitely recommend making reservations: our group consisted of 2 couples and I had heard about the difficulty of getting in past 11PM so I decided to make drink reservations. So we got in Saturday midnight without a hitch. Yes, the bouncers were feisty and did indeed turn several others away (including a group of shocked looking girls) but since we had reservations we were in the clear. Inside the space was beautiful, very large with comfy beds, cushions, seats spread out... Cocktails were all very good. I'm not sure about the prices because I didn't pay for any of the drinks (thanks sweetie!)... but there was zero cover charge so I imagine the prices were higher to compensate. I can't comment about the food because I didn't try it, although I've heard it's good. If you're visiting NYC I highly recommend checking out Buddha Bar, it's a fun experience and right around the corner from Spice Market so it's very easy to get to. Dress well (jeans are totally fine, just look chic and not sloppy)..
