I have heard about Parish and it's "authentic" New Orleans style of food and atmosphere. Today I stopped in around 2:00pm on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't realize that all they offer is the brunch menu, which I wasn't interested in. I was told about the market downstairs which offered sandwiches and po-boys. We headed downstairs to eat. The downstairs area is rustic with brick exposed walls and charming. There is a small outdoor seating area as well. After perusing the blackboard menu and contemplating on a shrimp po-boy, muffaletta or the green tomatoe BLT. I chose the BLT since my dining companion ordered the oyster po-boy and I could sample that and the muffaletta's description listed a "vegetable giardiniera." A New Orleans muffaletta is made with olive salad. One other goof which was made was not understanding what "dressed" meant when ordering a po-boy. The term dressed is a classic term to describe how you want your po-boy prepared. The management / staff could really add the feel of New Orleans by using the lingo that a true New Orleans eatery uses. The green tomatoe BLT was good. The toasted bread should probably be rethought as it was a bit delicate for this sandwich and did not hold the goodies that filled it. I want to go back for dinner and try some of their other "New Orleans" inspired meals. At best I would classify this restaurant not so much as New Orleans style but Southern.

4 stars for the flickr photo booth alone. Solid gold idea... now they just need to get streaming video up on the web so you can see if the place is jumping before you head down.
