by Faye G. on Nick's Crispy Tacos! The first stop on our SF foodie trip :) I'm a lover of fish tacos so I have been dyyying to try the famous pescado taco "Nick's Way". I ordered one of those along with an order of elote (mexican corn). Yum! The pescado was nicely fried with a light batter which was great with the guacamole. HOLY MOLY guacamole! They really pile it on here (I'm not complaining) and the flavor was pretty spot on. What surprised me the most was just how flakey the fish was. You could still taste the flavor of it unlike some other fish tacos I've had. But the best thing about the taco was the *crispy* tortilla. It added the perfect crunch to each bite. Although the pescado taco was great, I was a bit let down by the elote. I'm also a huge fan of corn and it felt like the cotija was a bit heavy handed. The horchata was just okaaay too. The table shared a basket of chips with guac & salsa which we got as soon as we ordered. It was was nice to munch on as we waited for the rest of our food to come. The next time I'm up here I'll skip the elote and order some carne asada or even the pescado burrito. BTW, we came around 1:30pm on a Saturday and had to wait in line for about 10 min and easily scored a table. Not baaaaad.
by pracheta t. on Loooove Fiso. We used to come here years ago but haven't been back so we decided to hit it up for old times sake and we were not disappointed! The middle floor was playing amaaazing music but it got really packed so we migrated upstairs. Upstairs was also playing great music and we had more room to dance around. It was a little chilly on Saturday night so we didn't hang out on the deck much - but I can't wait for warmer weather to go again. Great crowd and really friendly bartenders.
by Emory Mazzera on saint is good because it's free. anything that's free can never be all bad. other than that, it's just mostly a bar, not dancing no one danced any of the times i've been. too pretentious and dressy for me. i did always manage to get free drinks from old guys when i went though. still, not really a draw for me...
