What can I say about Blue Martini? This place has become the new Barcelona in my opinion. Cougar Centrale! It is definitely an older female demographic. Now my opinion has been formed by just one jaunt into this place, but I'm sure it's the same on any given night. There will be the older drunk guys dancing with some woman they wouldn't want to be seen with on any other night. Drink prices weren't outlandish which you would sort of expect. There are four bars in this joint. So getting a drink should be easy right? Negatory. It was like waiting for Hailey's Comet to order something. Plus you have to deal with the DB guys muscling their way in trying to jump the line. Overall, if you are desperate for a place to go in CityNorth, this is probably the "classiest" joint there. Not sure I will be going back ever.

I've had some good times at Sugar Cafe. I've attended a few birthday parties and some of their bottomless Mimosa Sunday brunches (though I digress, the best place to get those along with much better food is Luna Park in the Mission). Overall, I must say that I've never had an unpleasant experience there...until today. I often make it a habit to telecommute on Fridays due to the fact that I work across the Bay. This morning, I entered Sugar Cafe since it's close to where I live. I decided to start with their basic breakfast and a soy latte. On the menu, it explicitly states "two eggs any style." You can imagine my surprise when I ask for poached eggs and the guy behind the counter responded with "we don't prepare them that way." Okay, then. Maybe you should note that somewhere on your menu. "Any style" is misleading. That being said, I didn't argue and opted to order the TexMex scramble instead. After my food was ordered and my latte acquired, I sat down, fired up my laptop, and promptly connected to the Sugar Cafe network as I had a lot of e-mails to answer. The only problem was, the Internet wasn't working. My food was served and I asked the waitress if there was something wrong with the connection? She was defensive/apologetic (obviously some people have given her grief/attitude even though it's not her fault) and informed me that the Internet connection has been disabled for awhile. "Yeah, our Manager has been on his hands and knees for a week trying to figure out what the problem is." Hey Mr. or Mrs. Manager, here's a novel idea: Hire a PROFESSIONAL from your provider to fix the problem. Here's another suggestion and a matter of common courtesy: If your Internet connection is down for an extended period of time, put up a sign near the entrance and next to the cash register informing patrons that it is, in fact, not working. Don't allow them to order food if they came to your establishment with the intention of getting some work done online and then get settled only to learn that it's not up. "Gee, sorry" doesn't really compute. I feel bad for the employees that have to inform everyone of the problem repeatedly. That's about all I have to say about Sugar Cafe. They have decent prices but the quality of food and Internet service can definitely be improved upon.

The decor was lovely, dark, mysterious, sexy....the patrons...not so much. Not a friendly face in the crowd. Way overcrowded with females, and the bouncers were NOT very friendly at all. We went in a large group, didn't get table service, and was basically told at the front door that next time we came, we HAD to get a table or else they wouldn't let us in....why does it matter?? we're still spending a grip on over priced drinks! so anyways, our friends were coming later and couldn't get in as they were guys...so we ended up actually hanging out at the salthouse across the way. From the rudeness of the staff, the over priced drinks, the over crowded FEMALE based dancefloor, it wasn't really my bag of tea...the music was mash ups and not my taste at all either. oh well, you make it what it is. Still had a good time.
