I went to Asia SF for Dine About Town not knowing really what to expect. All I knew was that the waitresses would be transgender and they were supposed to be HOT. So yes... if that's what you are looking for... they are actually hot. With huge boobs. They provided two entertainment sections during the dinner where the gender illusionists performed dances and lip sync-ed to a song. They seemed to love to pick on the guys in the crowd, playfully motorboating an audience member. Have to say... good picture moment. But other than that... the food was very mediocre. I had the seared ahi tuna which was actually not bad. The filet mignon with potatoes was very ehhh. The meat was extremely chewy and the potatoes were in cool star shapes but nothing out of the ordinary. Portion sizes are not very large, and I left the meal still feeling hungry. The dessert was probably best part. I had the banana beignet, which was delightfully crunchy and sweet. My major complaint was that we got seated in the behind the bar. The restaurant has a section on the left and the right. Try to get seated on the left size (when you enter) because most of the performers will face this way. We saw a lot of back instead of face. I admit they were probably just trying to work the tip and being fresh out of college, they knew we wouldnt be spending bank here. The waitresses flocked around the tourists that were there and pretty much ignored us through the night. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to work for the benjamins, but it left our party feeling a little neglected. Ended up spending 55 for the set course and a sake that I split with my friends, which I think is expensive for what kind of food you get.

Bill who? Oh, Bobby. Hmmm, right. I confess, I am a terrible excuse for a foodie. I don't play chef trivia, I can't remember the names of half the international foods I consume, and when a restaurant opens with a crazy long wait just cuz it's some guy from the Food Network... well, that don't impress me much. Bobby's turkey burger, however, did make me sit back and say wow. I got it in the LA style: avocado-relish, watercress, cheddar, & tomato. It was the perfect size, on a fresh bun, and mouth-wateringly-good. My group shared an order of sweet potato fries with horseradish honey mustard. The fries were ok, but not the most amazing things ever. The dipping sauce was kinda watery so you had to do a serious scoop to taste any on the fries. I considered getting a milkshake (you can have yours boozed up for an extra $2.50!), but luckily waiting in line so long meant I had a chance to see how tiny they were before ordering. Pass. While I certainly can't knock the place for its food, I'll say I was a little disappointed to wait 30+ minutes in line for an $8 burger in what I'd call a posh cafeteria. (Long, communal tables = hovering for seats. Ew.) I love the decor, the burgers are great, but the overall business model really turned me off.

Oh Abbey, what fun you are. My friend used to live within walking distance. Needless to say those were fun drunken walks home. The bartenders are pretty cool and the drinks are good. Make sure you hit up the ATM because they don't take cards. A good mix of people. Decent music, the DJ's are alright for the most part. A good place to have drinks, talk a bit, then dance once it gets full (and you've gotten your drink on).
