Went here for an after-dinner drink with a date on a Friday night, and wish I had stayed gotten there earlier for the food! everything looked super yummy, and the restaurant was packed. Then, come 10 o'clock (or so) the tables were taken out, the lights went low, people were shoo-ed off their bar seats and the music started. Very energetic, friendly and chill crowd, definitely a pretty diverse scene, and everyone was having a blast. I definitely recommend you try a hibiscus margarita (or 3) and get your dance on. I'm going back soon for the food!

Pros: decor is great and interesting. Easily accessible location on public transit. I saw some cool hired dancers there and the upstairs view of the dance floor and stage is really nice. Plus a nice smoking patio. Cons: the cover is steep - even for SF. The crowd is annoying. The drinks are overpriced and slow-coming. I'm glad I checked it out and it might work for some people, but I don't put it in the top 5 destinations for going out dancing in SF. If you have to pick one event/place, check out Bootie-SF mashup at DNA Lounge. http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...

Been to Medjool several times for drinks - with friends and with a date and it's a good venue for both. If you are looking for a chill evening go on a weeknight but you are looking for more of a party scene go on the weekend. The place is ginormous. As you walk in, there is a bar on the right side and comfy lounge-y chairs and benches on the left side. This floor has a nice open loft-y feel with spiffy colored glass disco ball-esque thingamajigs hanging from the ceiling. Beyond the bar area, there are tables and chairs for dinner which are moved some nights and voila - a dance floor. The 2nd level has another bar, more loungey chairs and a balcony that faces the street. But on a nice night, yes the sweet spot is the rooftop complete with picturesque view. Drinks are uneven. Mojito = bad, Sangria and pineapple martini = good. I can't vouch for the food but word on the street (aka my friend) is that Medjool is yet another one of those places with overpriced small plates. Why won't this trend die?
