I don't have much reason to venture out to Potrero Hill but now that I've discovered this sweet spot, I do. It's a pretty large space for art and it's got a great, large lounge area. They seemed to be swift with the drinks and the Shrine exhibit (among many other talented artists, including Shrine's daughter) was amazing, I would definitely like to return.

I don't go out at night very much anymore because I'm old. I don't like big crowds. I don't like overpriced drinks. I don't like worrying about someone stealing my coat. I don't like taking shots. I don't like waking up the next day with a hangover. I go to bed before midnight every night. I am old. So when my friends plan birthday events at bars/clubs, I'm the lame one that goes to the happy hour on Wednesday and bails on the after-hours party on the weekend. But this weekend I didn't. I actually did a bit of bar hopping. First to Lush Lounge (read review on that place) and then to Vertigo after. This place I like. Why? - no cover after 11pm (when we showed up). -$5 drinks. Whhhhaaaaa? Those are happy hour prices. -Packed but fast bar service. And the bartendar wasn't annoyed when I kept ordering plain soda water. (Don't worry, I tipped her.) -Decent sized dance floor. -Good mix of music. Hip Hop and some dance Euro stuff that my husband likes. I was sober and the place was packed but I still had a good time. If I were looking to relive my early 20s, I'd def come back. For those that don't like big crowds: Don't come here.

1984 on Thursday nights is pretty great if you have a good group of friends and just want to dance. The fact that there are two rooms with different music is great for matching your mood or avoiding a song you aren't into. The people are mixed, annoying guys trying to pick up, but also really friendly regular folks trying to get their groove on. I find that the fact that the guys usually aren't worthy makes it really fun to go and let loose on the stage because I don't feel the need to impress anyone. I would be very pleased if people dressed up more!!!
