Woo Hoo! Finally a nice karaoke bar in Capitol Hill. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are always friendly. Best part is happy hour, which is from 4pm-8pm. The drinks are tasty but a little on the weaker side. The food is ok, they seem to run out of a lot of items on their menu, but they've just opened so I won't mark it against them... yet. LOVE the iPad control and wireless mics! They even have the songs labeled correctly, unlike most asian karaoke spots. Huge database of songs, english, chinese, spanish, and even showtunes and musicals. Love this place so much, that we've booked the "party room" for a birthday party this weekend.

Came here for dinner with a large group. When you are here for food this place is sort or weird, but unique. The menu is southern. So southern to me also means unhealthy. A lot of the apps and dishes sound good but also heavy. Props to the salad on the apps menu, though there is only one to select. I had the shrimp and grits was by fa r the most gourmet dish to come to the table. I enjoyed the there were not many shrimp. Had the frito app which was sort of odd. The desserts were pretty nothing special. The drink menu has some really unique cocktails on there. Fun for drinks. The food is cheap in price and nothing special in quality. If you are looking for some waffles and chicken, or a po boy, this is the place to come. Though if you are looking for something healthy I would pass it up. Just come for drinks. I would not eat here again.

Hmm. So Mezzanine was crowded and loud when I was here the other night... not my scene, but I know that some people like that sort of thing. There was a musical act here last night that I was interested in seeing (Ratatat). The calendar on Mezzanine's website just listed an 800 number to call about tickets. It was a recording announcing that tickets would be on sale during two-hour windows at various SoMa clubs. I called the place that was due to be selling tickets last Thursday before heading over there, and the owner told me that patrons had been asking but this was the first he'd heard about the whole thing. So, fuck that shit, Mezzanine. Just sell tickets directly like everyone else instead of playing games.
