by Hisako Outhier on Cocomo deserves to be in an oceanside location. I felt like I was in Dominican Republic or Miami, certainly not by 280 in Potrero Hill. As a person from a Caribbean country, I feel compelled to critique some of the dance moves on the floor as I witnessed from the mezzanine and can categorically say that some of these people should have shown up for the lesson, or could try to listen to the music and you know, dance with it as opposed to just moving around the dance floor desperately trying to please their girlfriends and get laid that night. The live band was cute, with the traditional synchronized dance steps & matching tshirts (this is how all of these bands are, I swear) and they played many standards, which I'm surprised I still know the words to! They sang "Happy Birthday" & then the traditional Latin American embarrassment of singing "You're getting old" in Spanish. My people really know how to make a girl feel good, huh?
