A place I could only enjoy in the AM - either super early mornings due to post drinking munchies & insomnia or later AM's for a huge heaping of breakfast before I start my day. This place gets breakfast food down right. Some highlight dishes: - Chicken Biscuits with Gravy - Ashley C. got these and I kid you not, the plate was WHITE - completely covered in gravy lava. - Sausage, Egg, and Cheese biscuit - Delicious, buttery, and hearty - Hash brown side dish - a small side took up half up more than half of my large plate. Go figure Super yummy all 24 hours of the day, though you're stomach may only be ready to enjoy it for about half of that time

There are two parts to this club. The more apparent, immediate entrance (which is mostly unmarked and doesn't attract that much attention) leads into Deep at Club Vanguard, which is an upstairs, quieter, more sensual place to be. They have a DJ up there mixing tunes, a smoking with a view of the alleyway, and windows that look out onto the dance floor proper. Since it was my first time there, I didn't realize there was more to the club and spent about 10 minutes looking and waiting around, moving my head to the beat. Turns out that there is a second entrance in the alleyway that is the main entrance to the main section of Vanguard. As you enter, you get a taste of the sound system which is pretty decent, and a bar frames the area towards the back. They also have a nice patio in the back to sit down, talk, smoke, do your thing. Dancing is pretty nice and picks up a little after 11 on a Saturday night. Now let me tell you why I'm never going to go back there again. - As some previously mentioned, the bouncers lack basic customer service skills. They don't care that you're there and certainly don't appreciate your business. Considering they are the "face" of the business, it's pretty messed up. They need to watch Road House. I had a really bad experience where I had to leave the club to help someone out and tried to get back in where I was given no reason as to why. I was being courteous, trying to go through the steps and get a straight answer. I stopped drinking hours ago so I wasn't drunk. I asked if it was because they had closed off to people entering, to which they said yes. Cue several people being let in. Cue a guy who LETS HIMSELF PAST SECURITY'S ROPES WITH NO BODY CHECK AND ENTERS THE CLUB. When I point this out to the guard, he gave me lip about telling him how to do his job, which I gave a big F U to and decided right then and there I wasn't coming back, EVER. Unfortunately, I left some friends inside. Fortunately, I had the last laugh when I told them I had an open tab inside. That shut them up real quick. They only gave a shit about me when it was clear I owed them money. They didn't even bother to check if I was telling the truth. They just let me in. - Forced gratuity on the drink bill. Are you f'ing kidding me? - The place isn't in very good condition. With the darkness and all the people you wouldn't notice it, but the place is in sore need of repair. Club Avalon which is down the street has much better things going for it than this place. Please, if you're thinking of visiting, go somewhere else. I would be recommending their business if it weren't for the fact that I got the hard truth about how little they care about you. If you do decide to go: -Bring cash. The front door doesn't accept credit cards. -There's apparently a way to get a $10 discount at the door, but I didn't know how as a walk-up. $25 for normal entry. -Stay the hell away from anyone that works there. You don't even need to be nice to the bar staff because they are already getting theirs. -Don't overdo it or you might give someone who steps in to help you a bad experience. :)

If you are in to house music, this is the place to be.  Saturday's thrown by Giant and Insomniac, each week there's a different house dj performing.  Sunday's is thrown by DJ Marques Wyatt with different dj's each week and sometimes Marques Wyatt spins.  Great crowd, everyone's friendly.  Nice decor with acrobats swinging over the ceiling, dancers on 4 go-go boxes.
