OMCheese. Pimento cheese, that is. It took an Atlanta native to introduce me to this awesome but hidden addition to any menu item. Take the already greasy, historic, and slightly squashed hamburger and add their glorious, gooey pimento cheese and you can see why this place is an Atlanta tradition. I wasn't brave enough to add the pimento cheese to the chili burger, but those with stomaches of steal extolled its many virtues. They've been serving up gut-busting goodies for over 80 years, and a single burger and portion of "o rings" will set you back under four bucks. Add in the vast and free parking (in Midtown no less!), and I certainly hope that this place will be around another eighty more.

I give this place a soild 4 stars for a simple fact: Green Tea Martini's. The Green Tea liqueur is yucky by itself, but in this drink - JUST HEAVEN! If heaven was a green creamy drink, that is. It is pricy so something so simple - so I need to figure out how to make it. I'm sure it's easy. The bar itself is super tiny, but every so often, someone plays the piano and sings - so it makes the area more comfortable. It's kinda dark due to the lack of lighting, but I think of it as relatively hidden, so D-bags are not going to run in and be abnoxious.

This place is almost part of myth; outer-borough kid discovers innate creative poetry spark through ventures to crumbling e. 3rd street building on the eve of gentrification spread, only to return grown, in the Oughts, to find cafes, condos, and well-lit sidewalks; all the while inside the beat and thrum of real NYC soul still (years later) spouts and spins and runs linguistic circles. Nuyorican Poetry Cafe...my first inspirations still come from there...need to go back and check it out again.
