by Merrill Ebberts on Oh Greenhouse.. typical pretentious club. Velvet ropes, doormen, skimpified hopefuls praying they might be granted access to your ivy covered fortress. Can be summed up pretty simply, yes its gorgeous inside, yes it is AWESOME to have bottle service, yes the people are either beautiful or rich and ugly. The music is fantastic and when you cross that threshold, you're hot shit for the next 3 hours. I have met so many cool people here and the bartenders have always been the biggest of sweathearts. But you have to know someone or know someone who knows someone and you have to work to look good enough to get in cos lord know I dont have the money to buy my way in. So when I can get in it is LOVELY but when I can't its a pretentious k-hole that im too cool for anyway, =) at least im honest.
by Romeo C. on No More! Kaput! Sayonara! No Mas! After 17 years and over 900 shows, The owner of the bar gave me the old fudge-sicle salute. The old turd burglar surprise. No notice. Couldn't even get a farewell blow-out throw-down party to thank my fans for their support and love. From my experience, The Star Bar does not respect performers any longer. There are no loyalties anymore. Money trumps art these days. The Star Bar is a sad, tired, hagged-out old lady these days. I knew her when she was fresh and engaging. Now she's showing the wear and tear of abuse. Indeed there is no surface that hasn't been anointed with beer, vomit,spit, piss or blood. I ain't hatin' on them. by Miles Buelow on Tacky colombian bar, full of people attracted by the 1 dollar beers till 8PM. My 4 dollar mojito (2 for the price o 1 was the worst ever!). So, I would prefer to pay 8 dollars for a better one.
