by Richard G. on Went to Flip for the first time recentlly to see for myself how good it was. Food: Ordered the Veggie Burger with a side of the coleslaw. Veggie burger could have been more firm but was well prepared otherwise. Presentation was very good. Coleslaw was excellent and unique; flavored with fresh lemon and jalapeno. The only reason I did not give Flip a 4th star was the staff. They were very cold and unwelcoming. Its okay to have a trendy atmosphere - actually I like that -but trendy does not have mean cold. The staff should remember that they are in the hospitality industry -be hospitable please. Its definetely worth going back and I will to try the shrimp burger then update my experience.
by Ginger E. on My gal pals and I wanted to try something new so we found La Vida via Thrillist. We got there at 11 and the club was pretty busy, bustling with lots o' makeup and big hair. The drink prices were pretty shocking- $35 for a beer and 2 well drinks. But the empty dance floor made up for that as we were able to bust out all sorts of spastic dance moves. The break dancers hit the floor at about 12, and watching them flip was pretty flipping fun! Ba da bing!
by Zachary Ronco on oh my, i am quite a fan of the avalon, formerly known as the palace. last night (supersuckers!) was the first time i'd been to this venue since the name change a few years ago. i guess i kind of forgot how much i enjoyed it here in the past. wow. the sound!!! i just love the sound here. absolutely one of the best sonic experiences that i've had the pleasure to be exposed to in a hollywood venue. seriously, some places blast the audio equivalent of diarrhea at your ear drums (i'm looking at you, palladium), and although my ears are still ringing 12 hours later, i look back on last night's show and welcome my future tinnitus with open ears -- thanks to the avalon.
