Went here last weekend. My friends thought the place had closed down because you can't see any people or hear any music when you're outside the venue. I thought it was pretty funny. There's a twenty dollar cover and there's either street (if you're lucky) or lot parking. We were lucky to find $5 parking a few blocks away from the club. Once inside we were escorted down to the main club room. It was big and nice and packed. This downstairs room played mostly hip hop and there was a good vibe. The drinks were fairly priced but were so so tasting. The bartenders were quick and efficient- appreciated that. After an hour or so in the main room we decided to venture upstairs to the electronic music room- whatever you call that crap. There were 4 or 5 flights of stairs which was a pain in heels. This was pretty wack also because there were tons of drunk people stumbling either up or down these stairs. Once upstairs it was a totally different room- same vibe but different music. Really loved the decor of this upstairs room also I noticed it was a lot bigger than the downstairs room. It was alright I'm not a fan but the people around me seemed to be enjoying themselves. Luckly there was an elevator which allowed us to back down vs going back down the stairs. Overall it was a good club would go back.

I (in my naivete) used to believe that all malls are required to have at least one respectable department store attached to it (i.e. at the very least, a JCPenney should be present). The Gallery in all of its glory has a... Burlington Coat Factory. Having worked at a BCF at one point (worst three months of my life), I can confidently state that that there is little to no class involved in the clientele that frequent this store. Therefore, it's no surprise that the same holds true of the rest of this "mall." Having said this, I feel no fear when strolling through the Gallery. If anything, it's actually kinda fun to people watch in this particular mall, because I have seen some of the most entertaining, and tactless pick up attempts of women in the Gallery. The only reason I still stop in there is when: 1. I want to load up on soft drinks from K-Mart. 2. I want to take the SEPTA Regional rail to some place nicer. 3. I want Charley's, Subway, Taco Bell, or Chick-Fil-A. Avoid all of those Asian food places; they are super stingy on everything but the rice. 4. there is a store closing (which seems to happen a lot), and you want to get really good deals on various items (e.g. Borders had a bunch of great books for super cheap when they closed).

The Blue Note is the best Jazz Club in NYC. I agree with the rateclubsers who said the whole point is the music, not the food or the drinks. You just have that, 'on the side,' so to speak. And you don't need more than a drink or two drinks, if any, when the music gets you so high. I have seen many great performances here, including Oscar Peterson (several times), Nancy Wilson, and Buddy Rich, when he was alive - who despite his notorious temper was gracious enough to sign his CD and allowed me to shake his hand in his dressing room, upstairs. (Funny story: I hear him say outside the door to his bodyguard, 'what does she look like?' A brief pause. Then 'let her in.') A little 'tip' - if the show you want to see is completely sold out, try to get a seat at the bar. Not too comfortable, but worth it, if you are a total jazz aficionado, like me. If you want a table, and a good one, get your tickets way in advance. You'll have an unforgettable evening!
