930 Lounge - About Us
A cool, smooth Miami-style lounge with all the fixings of a South Beach trendspot. Located next door to Clarke's Lakeview location, 930 Lounge is Miami without the heat, humidity and mosquitoes: sleek, stainless steel and mirror-blue surfaces, sultry lighting and expert DJs spinning tribal, down-tempo beats for a young crowd with the energy to dance but the desire to, well, lounge

Have YET to actually dine here, but I've always had a good time laughing with friends and throwing down drink after drink. After drink. After drink. And the occasional drink. Modern and lithe in daylight hours, the place is dressed top-to-bottom, end-to-end in white vinyl and [p]leather. A monumental length of marble comprises the bar. Frosted glass, mirrored finishes, and chrome lining the walls. Its a nice setting for drinks and conversations. And also drinks. During evening hours, pastel neon light floods the room, making the otherwise sophisticated design in a more gauche direction, and the music gets cranked up to wall thumping levels. Dancing bodies do all the talking. And also, there're drinks. Either way, any time of day, drinks are insanely affordable and service has always been friendly which only seems to lead to more drinks... WIN. __________________________________________________ ___ Daytime drinking and pre-nightfall raciness. Pace yourself. Or don't. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything. Shut up.

Ever see that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer hits golf balls into the Hudson? Yep, that's Chelsea Piers Golf Club. A four-tiered range that overlooks the grimy waters of the Hudson. They take advantage of the fact that they're the only driving range in all of Manhattan, and price accordingly. A $20 ball card will fetch you a mere 118 off-peak balls or 80 peak-time balls. Everything is automated (which is a blessing for lazy people, not unlike myself) so you insert your card in the machine, and one ball at a time comes out of the adjustable-height tee. Every stall also has heat, which keeps this place open year-round, and your hands from developing frostbite. They use Srixon range balls, which aren't V1X's, but don't feel like you're trying to swing at oddly shaped rocks either. The pro shop here is well-equipped for its size, and they did a great job re-gripping my clubs a couple months ago. Oh, and if you were really thinking about hitting golf balls over the ridiculously tall netting, think again. It's not a walk in the park.

I'm surprised a place of this age and decor still brings in the crowds. I've always had a good time here, but seeing it in the daytime really takes away the intrigue.
