Great venue to see bands, great sound system, decent floor plan. I've been here before to see the Presets, and last night to see Meat Beat Manifesto. So I get rockstar parking right around the corner, I have no idea why, but I have the best parking karma in the world. It always happens to me. So I'm 40 feet away from the front door. I go in through Will Call and head straight for the girls room. (Hey, it was an hour drive!) Clean bathroom, toilet paper stocked, flyers informing me on what's on the calendar. Sweet. I check out the floor plan and head to the bar -- the bartenders were nice, prompt, made eye contact, etc. I also liked that they were attentive at *who's first* -- I never felt ignored. I head back to the floor for the opening band, I have my ear plugs in since I know the sound system is loud, so I'm prepared. Sound quality was great. After they finished, I scurried up to the front to see MBM, (I was so excited) and its been years since I've seen them and it wasn't too crowded. They start ... but I only know this because I can feel it in my chest. Brrrmmmmm boooooom, brrrmmmm boooom! OK, so you know when you have those kids cruising down the street with their car stereo going, and you only know it by the windows rattling? And you think to yourself, "Geezus, what does it sound like INSIDE the car?" Ladies and gentleman, I NOW know what it's like to be inside one of those cars. I watched my bottled water move a foot across the stage before I picked it back up. I think a few blood vessels in random spots on my body burst. My organs realized they could no longer rely on my bones to protect them from this beat ... this fantastically loud beat! For the first time in my life I felt my age since I was thinking to myself standing there; "Is it really necessary to have the volume cranked up THIS high?" Yup, I'm officially old. So I sadly moved away from the stage to a more *age appropriate* section -- the middle. That's better. The giant pillar in the middle of the dance floor made a perfect spot to dance and not bump into people behind you. That pillar can be a bit of a distraction on the second floor since it blocks a partial view of the stage. One bummer -- Meat Beat finished early (no pun intended) since their equipment overheated. Waaah! Just as they were about to play *I Am Electro!*

I know everyone rips on this place and i was expecting the worst when my friend decided to have his 30th bday party here... but i gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. Granted I don't drink so I didn't have to pay for an overpriced drink but it wasn't too crowded for whatever reason and the DJ (who was from san diego) was really great! I can see it being bad if it gets too crowded though.

I had fun here the last time I went... You'll definitely find an awesome mix of people here which is great! Cool people and cheap drinks definitely make this a place to check out. It's cozy, remind me of the Grapevine Bar in Dallas, just way bigger.
