Had my 25th birthday party here- brought a group of 20+ people. First off- Music was HORRIBLE. The DJ played shit until 1am and then finally started to play stuff other than rap and we could finally dance. Spent the first part of the night playing the carnival games which were a lot of fun but make sure you have the $$ to pay for the tickets because it can get expensive. I had table service and it went well, the Dunk Tank drink was really sugary and my friends were getting water or shots of vodka at the bar to even out the taste. I heard that the bar was expensive to order drinks from. I was very lucky and my group was allowed to take the elevator up and down and not deal with the million of stairs that people are posting about. Great place to go with a group and you really have to get a table to enjoy it I think. If I had gone with 5 of my friends I don't think that I would have had as much fun as I did. Really expensive for what you get but one of those "must do once" New York things. The workers are all very nice, from the game workers to the waitress' to the girl selling the tickets for the games. All very pleasant. Door policy is redic however. My friends were getting turned away for not having the right shoes on and they made one of the guys go home and change because he had shorts on. It really isn't that upscale of a place that he couldn't have shorts on. The best was when a guy in front of me tried to get in with sneakers: Doorman: "you're not getting in here with those sneakers on" Kid: "what am I supposed to do" DM: "there is a shoe place around the corner- go buy a pair" Kid: "what am I supposed to do with my sneakers then" DM: "throw them away." Doorman then kicked kid out of line and looked at me with my flipflops on (long story- started out the night in heels and the cab driver ended up with my heels and i was left with flipflops) which is not allowed at all apparently. I told him I had 20+ people going and bottle service and he said it was fine and let me in. I was very lucky he didn't make a stink about it. Best: good for groups games are fun- but totally rigged decorated really nicely- totally a top hat circus in there Worst: very expensive door policy music- all rap no dance stuff

Had soooo much fun!!! The name is somewhat a turn off but once inside the decor does not disappoint!!! $5 parking in the structure next door. My friend and I had no trouble getting in @ 11PM and danced the night away. My friend and I winged it and we sure lucked out! Next time we come, we are definitely coming with more friends :) Everyone inside looks good and just wants to have fun. Best part of the night was John Mayer was there and started free styling and singing along with songs at the end. If you're skeptical, just show up and make sure you aren't dressed trashy (girls) or cheap (guys) after all its Hollywood, no one wants to see lame looking people in the clubs

What better way to return to the world of rateclubsing than by reviewing my least favorite LA club: Avalon. When Giant first took over, it was kinda-sorta ok; good sound, great lineups. Then my uncles, aunties and all the other senior Asians decided it would be fun to turn it into their opium den. Gross, and Avalon hasn't been the same since. The talent comes through every once in a while and the crowd is super dead. These days, I wouldn't be caught dead at Avalon unless I'm there to see my friends spin (go Droog!) because it damn sure isn't worth $5 for a bottle of water or the $30 door fees. For everyone complaining about expensive parking, you're not looking hard enough (or are just too lazy to walk)!
