I went here for my birthday. The food was really good. I loved the atmosphere and decor of Morimoto - very different from other places. Our waiter was very sweet & helpful. I would definitely go back for the sushi!

The 1st time I came to Medjools it was for the nightlife and I was NOT impressed. There were no promoters that night, the music was whacked (old r&b and pop), and the people (i.e. older gentlemen) were creepy. After spending just spending 15 minutes, we jetted off to Bruno's. Fast forward 2 months, me and an old HS classmate were deciding on a place to eat. We always heard good things about Medjool's food , so Medjool it was. We were able to get same day reservations for a Saturday night. FOOD: *Filo Wrapped Seabass w/ Eggplant w/ Roasted Pepper Sauce: OK, anything in must be good right? Of course!!!! The filo dough was light and crisp. The seabass was perfectly cooked; it was tender and buttery. The combo of the two with the red pepper sauce equal an explosion of flavor and textures. Ohhhh....and the eggplant.....it was silky and tender and perfectly seasoned. *Shortrib w/ Twice Baked Potatoes: OMG....Medjools shortribs rivals the shortribs @ Roy's! It was TENDER, TENDER, TENDER....did I say TENDER?!?! No knife needed.... It was seasoned perfectly and the reduction was a perfect complement. I was trying to stay away from carbs, so unfortunately didn't get to try the potatoes. :( *Zhoug Shrimp and Spicy Tomato Jam: Another winner! The shrimp was FRESH and tender. The tomato jam added a layer of zing to the dish! SERVICE: Top Notch! Our waiter Jacob ROCKED and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had asked for suggestions and he pretty much explained the entire menu; talk about IMPRESSIVE. He definitely knew his stuff, and was friendly and attentive. He had made mistake on the bill and charged us $40 less. When we brought it to his attention he was graciously thankful and offered to buy us dessert (we were stuffed so declined). The owner/manager also came by several times to see how we were doing--NICE! AMBIANCE: I love the orangy brown decor and high ceilings. The place is MASSIVE. It can get a bit loud b/c it seems to always be crowded. Ok, on to the Sky Terrace. Where else can you find something like this in the Mission? It's a cool place to chat and have a drink while enjoying the views of the Mission and SF. Make sure to bring cash if you're going to get a drink at the bar at the Sky Terrace b/c it's "cash only". The crowd is a mix with a majority in their 30s to 50s. I would definitely come back for the food. As for the nightlife, I would only go back to enjoy a couple of drinks at the sky terrace with people I enjoy being with, but skip out on the action dancefloor; instead head to Bruno's!

I've been here once before for a Craigslist Foundation shindig which showcased our handsome Mayor Newsom several years back and I remember the numerous pillars as well as the white linens and many many suits paired with slicked back hair. I was back again and have to say, I appreciate the layout of this venue. The spaciousness as well as the open ceilings make for an inviting group to host their socials as well as meetings. The venue also has the ability to adjust to the different sorts of crowds being hosted here (suits, artsy, casual, grunge, semi-formal) etc and this sort of diversity makes for a fun outing. A raised stage for music/speeches and a pretty shiny floor to allow for ladies in heels to slip gracefully. I'd come back for any event here :) and especially if they host those fire-torching artists outside again!
