Walked up to Tenjune on a Friday night after having drinks at the Standard Hotel.. At which point I encounter "Leroy, the door guy here, hustled 40 bucks off my friend and I, even though we were both with two very pretty girls this guy wouldn't have been able to pick up if he was the owner of this place himself. You will know him when you seem him; he looks like a Miami cab driver mated with the bass player from the Black Eyed peas. Well we get through the velvet rope and walked down the steps into Tenjune. Characters outside of the place were almost worth the price in admission, half the people trying to get in would probably have a hard time paying the rent let alone going into a club. Located right next door to STK and across the street from Buddha Bar this place consistently attracts a crowd.. Definitely not as good as it use to be...meaning... all the super hot model types, there sugar daddies who buy the tables and the bridge and tunnel I'm from NJ but think I am part of the "in" crowd no longer go here. Place has been around a while.... Definitely would recommend it to groups of guys going on a seek and destroy mission in the meatpacking. Simply for the fact that you will get in even though they will bang you for a bottle or two (typical)... Also its not a bad place to bring a girl who comes in from out of town and you have a wife/gf and are afraid of getting pinched.. Perfect place to bring and Impress your side piece.. Bartenders... One was hot ... the other not... Drinks fairly strong, however a round of four drinks will run you about 80 bucks, definitely on the higher end and u may regret not having just bought a bottle. That way u end up with a table and your not paying Leroy's toll at the front door. Place has some weird lights outside leading to the bathroom or maybe it was just the 6 drinks I had in my stomach at this point.. The dance floor was horribly dark.. Yet another perk if u don't want to be seen, than again with Kerpal the cab driver dancing next to me and bertha from Iowa doing the two step maybe i was glad I couldn't see half of what was going on.. Stayed here for less than a hour.. Had to leave... Music wasn't bad.. Pretty good hip-hop actually.. However, the crowd was akin to being in time square on New Years Eve. Wouldn't come back here unless I was with friends who refused to go elsewhere or it was someones birthday party at which point I'd recommend they change venues before hand.

I see the potential, but not the magic. Arriving outside of Mighty at approximately 11:15, my friends and I were faced with quite the daunting line that had managed to snake itself all the way out into the parking lot. While this may be construed as a rather positive element in the nightclub business at times, I can assure you that this time, it was nothing more than poor planning, for the 50+ people waiting in line, there was only one person working the door. As we entered Mighty, the sudden unmistakable throbbing blast of well engineered music was incredible. Somehow, even after the long line debacle, the planners had still managed to secure an awesome DJ or two who were spinning some amazing music for the 400+ people to dance and groove to. Heck, even I, who is certainly not known for being terribly fond of dancing and moving could be found out on the dance floor for a spell or three. Naturally, after dancing for a bit, one tends get a bit... thirsty, so my next stop was obvious: the bar! Honestly, for a club, this bar sucks. The drinks are watered down, the prices were high and worst of all, the service sucked. When you have a club that is going to see 400 to 500 plus patrons, it's stupid to have just 3 or 4 bartenders tending to a bar that is regularly surrounded by a huge crowd. After the 15+ minute wait for my vodka and cranberry, I decided to have a quick wander around the rest of the club before returning to the dance floor. I quite enjoyed the decor here; very underground. You feel like, even though you're surrounded by hundreds upon hundreds of fellow mover and groover's, you're in on a secret that nobody else knows. I'm giving Mighty 3 stars; the decor and location are awesome, and the music (this time at least) was outstanding. Just don't come here for a good place to drink, as Mighty most certainly isn't that.
