by Stefan W. on I was pretty excited to try the burgers here after reading reviews on rateclubs, but the Bruin Burger I got was just so-so. It was a decent burger, but nothing special, and definitely overcooked, which is certainly a no-no when you are specifically asked how you want your burger done. This seems to be a decent place to go for happy hour drinks, but there are a ton of better burger options on the west side.
by Cheree Dzledzic on I'd like to meet Jillian, she sucks. Where do you start? The food. The food is horrible, tasteless, and an insult to my mouth (even after a large quantity of beer). The atmosphere. Sports bar/upscale restaurant/nightclub/dorm room, what the hell is it supposed to be? It's not ESPN Zone, it's not Palomino, it's not 1015 Folsom, so why try to be all three? The crowd. The crowd is a mix of tourists and people with bad taste that like the "safety" of a chain restaurant, the "comfort" of being close to the convention center, and the "middle-American-ism" that it is in a shopping mall. The crowd at night. Urban. This is where Newtrendz holds most of it's events, geared towards an african-american clientle. It was one thing to go here during the dot com party days for free grub and open bar, but the thought of going here now and subjecting myself to anything remotely close to this punishment reeks of suicidal thoughts.
