by Laura H. on It is a bit of hike to get to, but well worth it. I came out to this boat/barge/bar on the Hudson on Sunday, as an ending to the first really warm weekend of the Spring and loved it. We arrived at about 3:30, were able to find a seat and enjoy burgers and beers and great people watching. You're right on the water, so its great when the city gets really hot.We finished our afternoon on the upper deck with a pitcher of their white sangria - delicious.
by Mandi Stolp on Little Baobab used to be right up there on my "favorite restaurants in the neighborhood" list, but i just don't know anymore. they recently made minor changes to the menu, which in my opinion made things way less tasty. The curry that i love most (cari vollaile) now comes without yam or potato. Previously the menu said it came with yam and potato, but on occasion it didn't and i would count the days when i was sadly surprised by the lack of potatoey goodness on my plate as bad little baobab days. Also, the chicken used to come cut up into little pieces that were nicely placed on top of the curry, for easy mixing in and capturing of flavor. On my most recent visit the chicken was just a big dull single chicken piece. Why do I care so much about these things? I don't know, but this is my review so I'm allowed to. Now it's probably best if we don't even talk about the service at this place. Because it's good about one out of every five times, and when it's bad it's very very even pushover sharon doesn't want to leave a tip bad. And the music is too loud when you're trying to eat. but, on the plus side, it IS an incredibly cute place with really unique food that you can't find elsewhere (or at least i haven't been able to). and it IS very very near to my house. and it never fails to impress visitors.
