by Jessica C. on I went here to watch a Jim Henson's performance of Puppet Up, which is like an improv version of Avenue Q. When you walk in this place actually looks really nice, a big lobby and then two grand staircases to the left and right. We had balcony seats where there were sections of plushy couches and then also the fold up seats. Since not that many people were in the balcony you could easily move into the cushy seats. We got drinks at the bar, but seriously, they were lacking some alcohol for the price that we paid, super sadface. The bathrooms were also kind of historic and the carpeting smelled like an old folks home. The show was great however and the view from the balcony seats with the projected screens was perfect. I had been to this club when I was in college and I remember it being a lot nicer, then again, that was a long long time ago ;)
by Ray Abaya on What can I say, I love me some cabaret. And GAY cabaret plus a strong-ass martini? Where do I sign up? I came here with some peeps after passing by a zillion times and never having the nerve to actually go IN. I didn't sing on the mic, but I did let out my inner Rita Moreno when the pianist started playing the music from West Side Story (I was in that musical in high school, but I digress.). Totally fun. I must get more drunk next time so that I get up and sing in front of everyone. PS. It's dark as f**k in there, so don't get too drunk or you may find yourself stumbling if you're not careful.
