*Yawn* This place was okay. Not good enough to keep my friends and I interested for long. Typical club that makes you stand in a long line outside while they 'select' a few people here and there to go in, but once inside doesn't quite live up to the hype. Venue itself was really nice inside - but the music selection was not...consistent. Sometimes it was good, sometimes you wonder what the heck the DJ is thinking. It was nice that they have couches for lounging even if you don't have table service - good for feet dying in heels. Also, some kind of event was going on the night my friends and I checked out the place so our 'free' passes didn't work. $20 cover charge for an OK place.

So I like to drink. Mm hmm. Big surprise. But I like other things, too. Things like art. Oh yeah, and I work in the lovely downtown/Soma area. Big surprise, then, that I would be a fan of 111 Minna. Of course, everyone knows about Qool, the big Wednesday night happy hour party. Which I dig, though I very rarely can get away from my office to enjoy it. But it really does kick some butt (or at least it did the last time I made it there, which was ages ago). I have had mixed experiences with Friday and Saturday late-night parties. I would have to concede that the crowd is a bit more plastic and blah. I find the Friday after-work scene to be the right combo of energy and good attitude. Dig the folks, dig the music, dig the artwork. The kind of place where you have a beer, then another beer, and pretty soon you're switching to your favorite mixed drink and you almost leave without closing out your tab - it's a really important ALMOST.
