A promoter from here found myself and my group of girlfriends at the Hotel Gansevoor bar. The experience was great because he invited us over, and walked us right through the line and to a table. We had a lot of fun, I saw John Stamos, danced and drank the night away, and didn't spend a dime. I'm used to VIP treatment in Vegas, or LA...but I thought in NYC it would be harder to come by. The whole night was really fun. Taking off one star, because the night we were here (Sunday Nov. 1st) not sure if this is how it always is.... the DJ kind of sucked. Each song played for maybe thirty seconds, once you were excited about it.... it was on to the next. By the end of the night it also got a bit crowded....but all in all, it was a great NYC club experience! So glad we went, will recommend it to others :)

I'm torn over whether I should give this place 2 or 3 stars. 3 stars because my friends and I have had some good nights here, and surprisingly, for a place that isn't that glamorous or spacey, I've been here a handful of times within the last year. But I give it 2 stars because it's very small - you can basically scan the entire nightclub anywhere you stand (both good and bad). If you're going to go, go on a sponsored night in lieu of some college club so the crowd is more censored and less shady. Music was generally good the times that I've been there; a good mix between catchy pop music and mainstream hip hop. It's whatevs.

Walking up from 7th & Mission toward Jessie, I found myself lost in a moment of quiet self reflection somewere south of 9PM, as the 14 pulled away, heading East, without consideration and without pardon for them that are drinking down their prayers in hotel rooms and in gutters, as the money runs out, ... Although plans for the evening were somewhat ineluctably dashed (as a consequence of circumstance, I can only presume), I was still proceeding to attend the Grizzly Bear set at The Mezzanine, as I was intrigued by the prospect of bearing witness to the re-creation of such works of delicate (and somewhat inexplicable) beauty as "Colorado" live... Armed with the first of many drinks, I surveyed the venue, as rather uninspired background noise reverberated... the styling of the interior was persuasively minimalist, with little adorning the walls of industrial slate... the bar itself (one of at least three) was positioned along the rear right wall, and was bathed in subtle orange backlighting, which served to accord an altogether sensuous affectation... in addition, there was corridor, stage right, which led to an outdoor area of sorts to accomodate the smoking variety... Overall, the aesthetic served to validate the club (and probably the audience as well), and as the first band (The Botecelli's) began to play shortly after 9:30, I took a hard pull from my beer, and waited for something approximating salvation in the form of love or devotion or a carefully orchestrated piece of musical persuasion
