Went there recently for a private party that was supposed to last for two hours, with a two hour open well bar. Well, at 11, Tenjune decided to cut off the open bar, and I realized I'd forgotten something at home, so I thought I'd just leave for a half hour or so, grab my stuff, and come back. We talked with the doorman, said we were already inside, and he told us we'd have no problems coming back. We come back literally 45 minutes later, and the doorman won't even acknowledge our presence. Unless you were ACTUALLY flashing your plastic, or were one guy with ten girls in your entourage, the doorman wouldn't even LOOK at you, let alone talk to you. He let in SINGLE men rather than letting in people who were in 45 minutes before with ten friends inside. I understand how a club is supposed to be kept exclusive and all, but this doorman took rudeness to another level completely. He wouldn't even respond to someone calling his name. For the hour I was there, it was alright. The club is VERY small, but it is beautifully designed. Does NOT warrant the doorman attitude, or the absurd prices for drinks, though.

The short of it: Drinks are strong. Food is mediocre. Vibe is good. Parking sucks. Good meeting place for drinks. I don't go to Velvet Margarita for the food and I definitely don't go there for their $30 margarita. I do go there for their Tarantino-esque, vibe and a drink or five. It's not that their food is terrible, but it's not memorable by any means - which is unfortunate. That pretty much covers it.
