by Amir T. on This place is way overrated. I saw the Mars Volta here and first off, let me comment about the interior. The interior is poorly gilded by faux -gold, complete with friezes featuring poorly rendered griffons. The decor is what I would imagine Sylvester Stallone's biday to look like. There are Abe Lincoln style balconies on either side of the stage, but it seems like their view would be hindered by the odd placement of the speakers. The sound was okay, but nothing to brag about. Getting in, however, is a pain. Apparently it doesn't matter what time you arrive to the venue because the management has its own shitty method of determining who gets in first. If you've been waiting all day to get a good seat, too bad. First, they let in everyone with a will-call ticket. Next, if you printed your ticket at home rather than mailed to you, you got in next. Finally, everyone else was slowly filed in. Friends of mine that had been waiting there for over 8 hours found themselves in the fifth row while douche bags that got there at the last second had primo seats in the first row. Whoever's idea this was is probably a socialist.
by Edgar Doepner on Update: I threw a party here and it was awesome! The events department is great to work with and I can't say enough good things! Even the coffee is good in the morning. Gorgeous interior and delicious desserts! This place is great. I can totally see myself coming here after a day of shopping in Union Square or for drinks and desserts. I wish I lived closer so I could go in the mornings to get coffee. The sweet potato pie with maple whipped cream is utterly amazing and enough for 2!
