This is one of the nicer clubs in Hollywood. There's a more relaxed door (make sure you sign up for the guestlist on their website under reservations... it's so easy, just make sure you do it and get a confirmation) and the decor is beautiful. I think you don't have to pay cover until 10:30pm if you're on the guestlist, but call to check. Plus, they have some of the best go go dancers here which do much more than just shake their asses (these girls have skills!). The outdoor patio is pretty unique with cabanas lining the perimeter and a fire place set outside in the middle. Usually the outdoor patio is a place for guests to escape from the crowded ballroom. Inside, the place is like a massive private party with an upstairs and downstairs. However the bathroom is a bitch to get to since it's all the way in the back down some stairs. Maybe that's why there's usually a short line - I'm sure most of the drunk guests couldn't even find it. In terms of music, they've got a lot of DJs playing a large selection of music but you won't be disappointed if you're looking for the typical weekend hip hop. A big plus is that there's a lot of diversity in the crowd. Of course, you'll be paying a bit more for drinks, but you can't complain if you're looking for a Hollywood scene. All in all, it's a great place to host your birthday party or bring your out of town friends without going through Hollywood drama. I've organized a couple events with the mangers and they're very helpful and friendly people.

I'm rating this as a private party space, which it was last night for someone I don't even know. But it was a hosted bar, and I knew the band, and somehow, we were all on the list, and sort of the only ones dancing (at least initially). (In retrospect, I hope we were polite enough at someone else's party.) I thought it was pretty fun, and pretty conveniently located. And you can always make a mad dash for District if it feels too juvie.
