by Jor V. on F*cking Fun! Circus is a Big dance club in Hollywood. There are four dance floors and a spacious outdoor patio complete with seating and taco truck. The cover price ranges from free (like on Tuesday nights) to $20 (such as Saturday nights after 10). go-go dancers on huge blocks. 21 and over. no dress code. Parking lot for about $8, but there's also free street parking if you're willing to drive around the block a few times.Theme changes every night. Go on FRIDAY NIGHT, when it's packed wall to wall with all the queer Latino men in LA. See an interesting cross section of the QPOC (queer people of color) community dancing to everything from top 40/pop on the largest dance floor, to hip-hop and r&b in the small dance floor on the second floor. Spanish music and any stage shows happen in the middle room. and the last room tends to play a bit of everything. The place gets packed with latina drama queens, half naked pretty boys, bald headed tatted cholito fools (i.e. me), and the womyn who love them. But have no fear all my male hetero friends, feel free to join the party! No, we wont hit on you (you swear you're that cute). No, we wont try to look at your penis in the bathroom (you swear you're that big). No, we wont make fun of your outfit (you swear you wont be half naked by the end of the night anyways)...although all bets are off once we all (including you) have a few drinks. Not ready to test your heterosexuality? that's cool. go on Saturday night when it's straight night and they play nothing but DJ/techno/trance stuff. apparently it's the place to go if you if like to do ecstasy and have glow sticks aggressively waved in your face. they also play the same music in every room. not really my scene but i'm not judging if it's yours. They close between 3 and 4 am. So before you head home, buy a hot dog wrapped in bacon from the vendors outside for about $2. or head a few blocks down santa monica towards vermont and stop by El Gran Burrito for some late night mexican food. fun times to be had.
by Jaqueline Pounders on This is an amazing lounge with great music, crowd, and ambiance. We were not dressed for bar, but had a great time anyway. Definitely a great hang out place on a Saturday night. For the rateclubers that went to Best of the Bay party, check out their gift bags for discount for 2 for 1 dessert.
