MJQ on Wednesday for the last 8 yrs has been the shits for an "underground" venue. Cheap beer (cash only), people that don't care how you dance and most of the time its free on wednesday. The music is great and people do go there to DANCE. Like the Music, People and Drinks!!!

I was nervous about eating on the Moshulu because sometimes when boats move, float, creak or groan I lose my stomach contents. I was pleased to discover that it is firmly docked and does not move the least little bit. Thankfully we were seated below deck, in a cozy corner away from the windows which suited me just fine. The night I ate there, I was part of a party of 10, with person #11 joining us later without issue from staff. To be fair, someone in our party was friends with one of the owners so we didn't have to wait for a table, anyone without a dinner jacket was overlooked, and ohhh we got 2 plates of each appetizer courtesy of the owner, please don't hate. I was wowed by the duck wontons, it's so hard to get duck cooked so that it's not greasy or gamey, even at high end places sometimes. I also sampled a kobe beef slider (ok maybe two) and it was heavenly. Not being too hip on seafood I wasn't able to try those appetizers but they were quickly taken care of by the rest of our party and no one had a complaint. We also got 2 of the cheese plates for the table, they came with fig paste and some sort of a rasberry side for the cheeses which accompanied them perfectly. For an entree, I had the Berkshire Pork Tenderloin, with stolen bits of my neighbors Free Range Chicken. It was all so delicious. If only I had more room to sample the Mac & Cheese and some of the other dishes that the table had. The service was phenominal to us, but again I realize that they were biased. Yes the prices are high but everything is online so you won't have any sort of sticker shock if you do your research. I firmly believe that amazing food is worth paying for, and with a group of 11 with quite a few drinks you can imagine what our bill was. No one blinked an eye ... we couldn't we were in dazed, delighted food comas! I'm looking forward to getting back on the Moshulu for brunch or even just drinks with appetizers, I've been craving those duck wontons!

Not impressed. Wish it was like the Jillian's in NY or Boston. Only happy part was free food and drinks courtesy of the SF Pub Club. Thanks!
