Buddha Bar. I was just there this past Saturday with my mom dad sister and two brothers who were in from Arizona. I'd previously been to TAO and kind of figured this was going to be the same kind of experience. It was. Right down to the huge buddha in the back of the room. I mean, this is fine, TAO wasn't bad, but this just seemed very eerily identical. The same kind of food, same kind of ambiance. Service was very good. I'm simple and therefore always impressed when a server doesn't need to write down you're order and can just remember it. :) Now, I believe we ordered a bunch of sushi appetizers, and some kind of salad. I didn't eat that much but my family loved it! Now, the main course. I think three of us had the teriyaki salmon, and we all really liked it. It came with some kind of rice that seemed like it was basically just butter. Wasn't so much a fan. Shouldn't the butter highlight the taste, not BE the taste? We also had a few sides. Garlic Mashed Potatoes= BUTTER. I don't even remember what else we got cause all I remember is butter running down my throat!!! Anyway. Nice atmosphere, definitely trendy, fun to take out of towners too because they'll probably be impressed.

Whatcha gonna do on Halloween? Get costumed up and go bowling! Um, yeah, and you're gonna drop some dough for the experience. The two of us spent $70 for two games apiece, two shoe rentals, two burgers and two beers. Yowch. I was, however, impressed with the redo of this bowling alley and the ease of the check-in process. Everything is streamlined, from reserving the lane to picking out shoes and a ball to ordering food. Once you're assigned a lane number, head to the shoe station and choose the grip size and ball weight you need. Need an extra ball? No problem. The attendant will take care of you, then you're off to the lane. There, your Lane Captain will help get you set up in the computer system with names, etc. and show you the call buttons for food, system help, etc. Then the server comes by for drink and food orders. The beer selection on tap is somewhat lacking, but the menu has a good mix of appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, signature BBQ dishes and desserts. The night we went they also had a wing special and racks of ribs. The staff is friendly, albeit the servers are eager to score a food or drink order, so head's up if you're really just wanting to bowl. The big video screens over the lanes and cool lighting add to the overall ambiance. Wednesday's music was a good mix of hip-hop and Top-40 with a smattering of country thrown in. Later in the evening, the atmosphere turns more "club," complete with a DJ and the need to yell over the music to talk to your date. Would I go back there? Maybe, but I'd save 300 Atlanta for a special occasion outing. (If you're up for more of a traditional bowling alley experience, hit Midtown Lanes instead, savor the retro feel and save some cash in the process.)
